Who cares what kind of “ball” he plays if he can win. Is it about entertaining or winning?
I think we saw with Mullins there can be a correlation these days from a recruiting standpoint.
There's three guys currently in the portal from Wisconsin:
Sophomore shooting guard Connor Essegian
Sophomore shooting guard Ross Candelino
Freshman point guard Luke Haertle
Essegian put up 3 PPG, while the other two just took up space on the Wisky bench. So if you're expecting someone bigger to possibly join this new guy, it's not coming from Madison.

The only downfall to Mullins recruiting was lack of recruits this year. You guys want to beat down all of his current players and then wish they come back for the next coach.
I mean more than one person probably flies to Madison. One plane and now he is the coach is a bit of a stretch 🤣
Look at it this way, folks. The last B1G assistant coach we hired turned out pretty good.
If it's going to be a Power 5 assistant, I'd much prefer him over Smithpeters or Johnson. He's a longtime assistant for a consistent Big Ten winner and has a reputation as a good recruiter. And nobody can tar and feather him for going winless in conference play or being the chancellor's BFF. His bio says he's 6-7, so maybe he'll be able to help develop any bigs we can sign from the portal. As a first-time head coach, I'd also hope he does what many suggested Mullins should've done and bring aboard a consigliere-type veteran assistant who will provide guidance and serve as a sounding board.

I'd take Essegian in a heartbeat. Averaged almost 12 ppg as a true freshman for Wisconsin. Not sure what happened this year

There’s some gray area there. On balance, though, the recruiting wasn’t good enough. See Trent Brown playing 35-plus minutes a night and no viable backup PG on the roster.
I don't think Mullins was a bad recruiter at all. I just think he didn't use his players to the best of their ability. He had Lance Jones and Marcus Domask playing out of position almost their entire careers. He plays 3's and 4's at center when we had extremely capable 5's. His substitution patterns were head scratching to say the least, but yes he was a decent recruiter.Who cares what kind of “ball” he plays if he can win. Is it about entertaining or winning?

Technically, the last B1G assistant we hired, we also fired.

Just wanna say we don't land Domask if NKU head coach hadn't left. ANYWAY
Think the new coach is going to be Spradlin

Mullins wasn’t a bad recruiter at all but had problems filling out his roster. Also as mentioned, he stuck with “his guys” way too much. Trent should not be playing 30-35 minutes a night on a team serious about winning
I will never forget that one! Oh the good days!Maybe we should contact the most revered poster of salukitalk gone by days. He resides in Wisky. I’m sure he would drive over and scope it out for us.
put out the Bat signal (which is a silhouette of Kate Beckinsale)
DUDE!!! I just snorted my soda all over my monitor. 😆
I’m glad someone knew what I was talking about. Man, that was a lifetime ago.
Yes, it was a lifetime ago. But it was some really good times. My favorite was the day we switched the layout with the Shockernet guys for April Fools Day. Damn, that was fun.
Well, that, and the day that Lowery got fired. Biggest traffic we ever had.
So the chancellor didn’t like the play of Mullins on the whole lack of O and played hard D. I wonder if he will like this hireIF ITS TRUE. FWIW. most asst. coaches usually have the same philosophy as the coach they played for or assisted under. Mullins for example. Lowery O was average at best he was an D coach. and porter was a d type of coach. We will see! As the Salukiworld turns. Stay tuned!
What if the owner of the plane that went to Wisconsin just had a hankerin’ for a couple cases of Spotted Cow?
I have no sources. But I’m putting $50 on Spradlin being announced tomorrow.
