So it begins. The countdown for shutting down the college basketball season. 😤
A shutdown this fall is gonna happen. The only realistic question for this upcoming season is; will there be college basketball in the spring and if so, what does that look like?
As things continue to be taken away from us, my hope is some day soon it'll start resonating with the general public enough to hold themselves accountable, stop being selfish and full-on do the right things, not just make passes at it, or outright ignore general health protocols altogether.

I think a January start date is reasonable. Even if there are no fans, the NCAA won’t want to go 2 years without NCAA Tournament money. It’s easier to track a basketball team’s activity and than it is to contain an entire football team, so hopefully the NCAA can make something work. I have no faith this country will have it’s shit together by then, but I think it’s more reasonable to play basketball safely during the pandemic as long as there are adequate safety standards.
Not much to talk about on here for a while. No fall sports, not a real good chance of winter ones either.
There was a very in-depth look at the MCV in yesterday’s Southern, went through every team with great detail and was well-written. I would post a link but if you don’t have a subscription you cannot read it unless you have the app, sooooo....download the app! It is worth the trouble. App is free.

Heff:
MVC WAY-TOO-EARLY POWER POLL
1. Northern Iowa
2. Loyola
3. Bradley
4. Southern Illinois
5. Indiana State
6. Missouri State
7. Drake
8. Illinois State
9. Valparaiso
10. Evansville
I actually think Loyola has a very good chance to win it all. Five returning starters, and Monsieur Krutwig! They will shoot the lights out from three with some great 3pt shooters coming in, and 2019 All-Freshmen Cooper Kaifes is back from injury.
No question Loyola and UNI are the class of the league - doesn't mean they can come into the Salukis' Kennel and win though!!
I sincerely would like to see two or three arse whuppings of the Redturds by the Dawgs!!

Heff drinks maroon cool aid, most have SIU in 6th, It would be safe picking them anywhere mid-pack, as they are yet to prove they deserve better.
UNI and Loyola will sit in the top 2 spots for now...
My gut says if we stay healthy, SIU will be in the top 4 come end of the season. but they will have to earn it, if Loyola falls on their face this year they will tumble from the top.
I believe 3rd to 5th is most likely for SIU. UNI and Loyola will be tough to overtake. I think we match up well with Bradley now, although overall they'll still be pretty good. Games against the Trees will be vital. Even though the roster is pretty youthful overall, I just can't see a finish 6th or lower.

I've seen some people picking Missouri State over SIU, and I don't really get it. Mo State has a lot to prove after falling flat last year. Loyola, UNI and Bradley will deservedly be considered the top three on paper, and then I think SIU and Indiana State are in solid shape to also finish in the upper half. Here's hoping there is a semblance of a season to let it all play out ... if I were a Loyola fan, I'd be especially bummed about the uncertainty, because they have a very deep and veteran roster, and it would be a shame not to have a "normal" year to see what they could do.

I believe that Indiana State has a better chance to be 3rd than Bradley. Outside of a couple of good weekends in Arch Madness in the last couple of years, I really just don't see what they've done to expect such a high rating. They'll be good, but I believe there is a reasonable chance that they could be 5th, behind both Indiana State and SIU (hopefully).
I'd predict them as:
3. Indiana State
4. Bradley
5. SIU
