Does this have an impact on Lance's status?  Maybe Dalton wouldn't get the minutes?  Also this means SIU has 0 players left from that recruiting class.

Had a pretty strong feeling he would not be back. Especially after seeing how many point guards we have reached out to. Best of luck to Dalton seems like a great kid

Don't read anything in to this as related to others.  I hate losing a quality young man.

DB was a great kid and wish him the best. For SIU be make a leap, we have to get guards that can score the basketball. Looking at this year guards shooting percentages is just sad.

I honestly thought that this was a possibility. I think this has more to do with X than it does Lance. Dalton likely saw he was going to be backup PG again next year and maybe not get the minutes he wanted. I don't see X or Dalton having the skill set to play the 2 guard so PG is where they were both going to get their minutes. I can't say I blame him...he's got two years of eligibility left and wants to maximize them. Good luck Dalton and thanks for representing SIU with class!

Great kid, hope he finds a school where he can start at PG. Like has been  said, our PG interest was probably a giveaway. Also, we have a preferred walk-on point guard who redshirted. I'm not sure if anyone else watched JR Jacobs in warm ups this year, but his athleticism was pretty incredible. At 5'9" he could do amazing acrobatic dunks and had by far the highest vertical on the team!

If we get a PG transfer I would prefer him to be an underclassman as we need a quality starting PG when X leaves after next year.

Dalton is a great kid. From a basketball standpoint, I get it, but would have liked to see him graduate from SIU.

He and Marcus are good friends, FWIW.

Dalton maybe the first to enter but he won't be the last SIU player to enter this year.

Ugh.  I hope you’re guessing and don’t know something.

I have not heard anything so who knows. Although I did not know about Dalton so there is that .  I’m not as worried about the portal as I am about the Covid years

Best of luck to him.  I think he will be missed considering he was one of very few players to actually drive to the basket and score in a controlled manner this year.  Pretty consistent guy. I am sure he will have a great ending to his collegiate career wherever he ends up, and sure do not blame him him one bit for hitting the portal.
