I hope Domask is able to hold up playing a full season in the Big Ten after logging so many minutes for 4 years and dealing with a few leg injuries. He looked like he was bothered by things most of last year.
Wisconsin didn’t recruit Domask out of high school despite winning Mr. Basketball and having a great high school career in the state of Wisconsin. That’s something you don’t forget. Wisconsin in general has been a dumpster fire under Gard and hasn’t recruited Wisconsin at all.
Oh that the Dawgs should have such a dumpster fire!
"A coaching veteran of more than 30 years, Greg Gard enters his eighth season leading the Wisconsin men’s basketball program in 2022-23 and has proven himself to be one of the best head coaches in the Big Ten. A finalist for Naismith National Coach of the Year, Gard guided the Badgers to the 2022 Big Ten regular season championship, marking the team's second title in the last three seasons, earning Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in both 2020 and 2022."
They had a lot of injuries this year. When they played Barkeep's favorite team to hate in the NIT, they were healthy... and they destroyed the Gargoyles easily. I expect they will be very good next year ... their 7 footer is a stud.
It's possible once again that Gard wasn't interested. It's also possible that Marcus hasn't forgotten the snub. But mom and dad are so close.. that's why it made sense.
Anywhere but Illinois....I really don't like Illinois....best of luck with your new team Marcus.
Same, and for way too many reasons to list here. While I respect the school for its academic reputation, I truly dislike a fanbase which believes they should be placed amongst the blue bloods of college basketball. Wonder what the reaction will be when MD goes into a slump, or has a couple of off nites? My best guesstimate, not good. Smart to take the $$$ MD, it worked for Bruce Weber! 🙂
GO DAWGS!!!
Agree on Gard, he can certainly coach. Wasn't he a finalist for SIU before the Salesmen was hired?

That may have been true in the past, but similar to the SIU fan base they have also been humbled the past 5-7 years (decade in a half for SIU). I work on campus with many Illini season ticket holders, and none of them act like jackasses. They know they are not a top program any longer. They too respect their coach, but time may also be running out for Underwood.

I believe he was.
Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.
They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.
Is he attending any of the G League or draft workouts?
Just another Ex-Saluki who I will not be following or pining for. I LOVED him while he was here, but now he will always be an Illini to me. Good luck but good bye !

Not an Illini fan….but will continue to root for Marcus. He gave 4 years to SIU and graduated. He could have left at anytime but chose to stay for 4 years. I would feel differently if he had packed up and left after year 2 but he stayed around and is currently playing on an extra year….somewhere else. But no hard feelings. Hope he has a tremendous year.

It's the absolute right thing to do in wishing him well, I assure you I am doing the same. I was one of his biggest fans and my personal appreciation for what he did over the past 4 years has not waivered, nor will it be forgotten. But he did not want to be here despite the coaches and fans wanting him to, in other words it wasn't a mutual "break up". I'm just the type of person that if a woman who I cared deeply for dumped me after 4 years, I'm not scouring social media to see what she's up to. In summary, I'd rather invest my time and energy into someone who wants to be a part of my life/family than someone who doesn't.
I have no ill will towards Marcus or Lance they took the information available at the time considered their options and did what they thought was best for them presently and their future who among us would not improve their own situation good luck to both
No fan of Illinois, but I wish Marcus every possible success, just like I did Bruce Weber. And thanks for the memories.
