I just don't know how people watch this and think this team is close to competing. This is pathetic.
Because Mullins was built up by all of us to be an excellent coach AND recruiter.
Even though he hasn’t been a HC before.
People are willing to cut him a ton of slack. And they are.
This won't be a popular opinion but I think Mullins and staff have struggled recruiting. I'd say it's been their biggest weakness to this point. The 2 best players on the team (Jones and Domask) were not Mullins recruits. This past season 3 heralded recruits and only 1 was impressive enough during summer and fall work outs to play this season. Filewich and Banks both have their moments and Banks may ultimately turn out to be a good player once (if) he improves his shooting but overall this staff hasn't brought in one difference maker yet. And.....other Valley schools are winning recruiting battles against this staff. Winning would help but it doesn't look like that's going to happen this season either.

Domask was a Mullins recruit. But yes, more difference-makers are needed.
Leading scorer - JD - also made a FT !!!!!!!!
3 pts for Domask
0 pts for Jones
yet we're only down by 8

Domask should be credited as a Mullins recruit. They battled with a few schools for him when he de-committed from Northern Kentucky.
Letting Penn get going was bad news. Looking like he did last year.
On one hand it was nice to see Verplancken attack a few times but his inability to finish is an issue.

Domask was a great get. D'amico is going to be a very solid player. Ebube and Wonders? Got a highly recruited 7 fter coming in next year. Need more sure. This rebuild is going to take a few years.

thanks, man, I needed that chuckle. Hoisting one in your honor, sir!
SIU has tired legs from Saturday likely but we also came into this year praising how much depth SIU had and how they wouldn't have to play Domask 38 minutes a night like last year. It's why I hate using the redshirts on Wonders and Ebube. If SIU were competing for a Valley championship, I'd be 100% on board with it but this is a bad team and they're kicking the can down the road another year by moving their Freshman seasons to next year.

They'll be far better freshmen next year than they would have been this year. Redshirting works, but with the crazy transfers nowadays, not sure it's a good idea.
drake has players older than i am.
Domask was not a true Mullins recruit, he fell in their lap. He signed with Northern Kentucky and only decommitted when the coach left and it was during the summer.

I still give credit to the staff. He had a previous relationship with Pat Monaghan and they recognized his talent and went out and got him. Easily the best move they've made so far.

sure sounds like recruiting to me - if that's not recruiting, then neither is getting a guy from the portal
