Will Lance be guarding Marcus??  Doubt it.

When Jones was on Domask, he had trouble scoring. They often picked off Lance and once Domask got past him, he could score.

Edey got into early foul trouble, didn't play much, only had 2 pts but 15 rebounds. Seemed like Purdue let up on the gas last 8 minutes or so and being way ahead.

Refs called a bs flagrant foul on Jones which helped Illinois get close late in the game. Terrible call.

Even without Shannon, Illinois is very good. Purdue should go deep into the tournament. "should"

They mentioned the Salukis several times and showed a pic of Lance and Marcus in Saluki uniforms!

I might get roasted for this...

That was an entertaining game to watch. I went to watch Edey, but got hooked on the Jones/Domask sub-plot. When the Whini got down big early I thought that game was over. Then Edey picked up his second foul and Whini got back in it. Domask had 20 of his 26 in the second half.

Agree that flagrant on Jones was kinda weak.

Other college basketball fans are thinking the same thing I have been all year: it’s mind-boggling that a team with Lance Jones, Marcus Domask, and Xavier Johnson did not make the tournament.

I still have hope for this coaching staff, but last year was not a good look for them.

They picked the wrong guy to have the ball.  X gets other people good looks; unfortunately, the opposite wasn’t true very often.  This offense with X on the ball but LJ instead of TB and Domask instead of TD would make the tournament easily.

I don't agree with the term, "former Saluki", in the title of this thread as both Lance and Marcus graduated from SIU and will always be a SALUKI!

With that in mind, this came up on X (Twitter) and with both Lance and Marcus in the video its to good not to share here!   It may go viral at just under 398.4K views at this posting.

That’s nice to think about for you and me all the other Saluki fans here, but as far as the basketball world as a whole knows….who? what? where? Both of them are probably going to play overseas ball, maybe Domask gets a shot at the G-League for a year, where they’ll always be listed as “COLLEGE: ILLINOIS/PURDUE.” And if Marcus can crack a pro starting lineup in America somewhere: “At forward….from Illinois, Marcus Domask.” Yuck.

It’s 2024. It’s a dog eat dog (basketball) world. all about exposure and promotion for the University now.

IMO the exposure of Lance and Marcus being Salukis on a big stage is a win all around. Why did the team not win last year with X and those two? Well, X wasn't the guy we see this year because Lance was ball dominant and had his worst offensive campaign of his career. Let's not pretend it's anything else but what we all saw last year every week. Let the others around the country wonder about such things because we know they weren't watching and they're assuming the same Xavier and Lance that are playing right now were stepping onto that court each game and it's simply not true.
