Beautiful win. Great teamwork. It’s amazing what this team can do when Ben is involved; it’s like a completely different team. Tough one coming up in Des Moines. Finish strong! Build to next year!

We've pulled out the records a lot for low scoring this year but this was their 3rd best offensive efficiency game of the KenPom era (since 2002) and best in MVC conference games:
Also the 9th best effective field goal % game in the KenPom era, also had #5 this year against SEMO:
And the 7th most points in an MVC game in the KenPom era:
Great to see a blowout win. Dawgs have played well.
Let’s temper some of the expectations though. We have watched this team play all season.
Let’s decide whether “we” are drinking from a glass half full, or a glass half empty, eh? I am in the former camp.

I would not want to have to play SIU now, that applies to all the other Valley teams.
Three of the four teams SIU has beaten on the 4-game winning steak are the three worst teams in the Valley, and they have lost 15 games in a row combined.
That’s why I said to temper expectations.
Bradley has a good club though, so that was a solid win.

definitely temper expectations but i've seen some growth lately. both in players and coaches. on the flip side you have to consider that it's the turds. also good shooting covers up mistakes. we filled the paint and lit it up from outside. a great combo. we blasted someone and didn't really let up. that's a confidence builder and at the right time of year. hats off to everyone. d'avonzo's play at the end of the game was so classy.
Craving a McBride Special!
Great job on Senior Night! As The Joker once said..."If you're gonna go: Go with a smile!" (I know that's not in the context of what he meant, but what the hell - it sounds fun!)
Beat the teams you're supposed to beat. Play the teams you're evenly matched with tight and pick up a split or get a sweep. Then play the best, rattle their cage, then hope for and cheer for an upset.

When you beat the gargoyles, and both ISU's in a week, I'm a very happy man! Especially pounding redturds on Senior Night. Great win Salukis! Keep it going.
March on triumphantly!
They have sped up their offense lately rather than waiting for a "perfect" shot and then so many times having to throw up a prayer at the end of the clock.

Yes, the more attacking mindset and quicker tempo has been encouraging lately, last night in particular. Caveat: Illinois State's defense was pretty woeful, so it's easier to find good shots, quicker, than if you're playing a stout defensive team. But I like some concrete examples lately that Southern doesn't HAVE TO play a grind-out style to win.
I'd like to see SIU continue to push the tempo but I fear they're just playing to their competition level and most of the teams they've played lately have been bad defensive teams. Even the Bradley game they slowed it down towards the end and nearly blew a 25 point lead. I wouldn't be shocked if things grinded to a halt again at Drake and in St. Louis.
Shout Out to the DAWG POUND. They were very enthusiastic and loud tonight. I like their D - UP chant
Credit where its due; Mullins and staff are definitely onto something by pushing the tempo and being much more aggressive on offense. I hope they keep it going because it appears to lean into the strengths of the team. When you have guys who're dangerous in the open court like Jones, Banks and Coupet and have them surrounded by shooters who can knock down open shots, good things happen when you push the action.
This was a good wire to wire win. Definitely playing well and with more confidence at the right time. I think we have a good shot at knocking off Drake.
