this has never been a problem before since quite honestly nobody cared enough about the Gov’s recruiting
you can follow/friend recruits on Twitter,Instagram ,Facebook etc.... Whatever floats your boat I don’t care. Do not under any circumstances direct message any of these kids. It can actually be an NCAA violation. Just don’t do it please. We have a Rivals recruiting expert who can talk to kids and knows all the rules and we have a scout premium mod on hand. If you feel the need to get information please pm 69 or I and we will see what we can do.
We are on top of this as much as we can be. Please even in a twitter thread do not claim to be a representative of Saluki-Insider as that can get our ass in hot water.
thank you for reading and if you have any questions about this just put them here.
My only question: WTF?? I mean, who--what sort of obsessed LOSER--would even THINK about doing such a thing? (OK, that's two questions, I guess.)
Wow.
Also, a movie recommendation, which surely seems random but it's not, because it is a movie about this very sort of creepy fandom: Big Fan, starring Patton Oswalt.
OK, going to go shower now. Ick.

As far as we know nobody has . HOWEVER: it did happen in the past on Salukitalk . We are trying very very hard to mend our relationship with the powers that be at SIU. I just want to make everything clear and cover our butts. We have the right people in the right places to get information . Your political self knows how impatient self righteous crap goes.
Ah, glad to hear this is a preemptive strike. 🙂

Rules I have lived by. I learned this in the early 2000's when I had a personal connection with a couple recruits. Having season tickets makes you applicable to these rules!

Excellent advice! Remember we're talking about rules that affect Southern Illinois, we are not in North Carolina.

I am the parent of an NCAA athlete. These rules apply if you donate to a schools athletic department. Please follow them...
I would love for one of the SIU compliance people to come in here explain how it works. We want to work with the university and I think this shows it. I know it is a small issue but avoiding a violation no matter how minor is a good thing
probably a good time to tell this infamous bobber story. and it's not about the ladies.
back during the salukitalk days, chris lowery invited me down to watch practice before opening night and write a story. we met at the arena, but practice was moved to davies due to some arena event that night. so everybody is hustling across campus. the bobber, too old and tired to walk, gets in his car to drive over to the student center lot. just then, one hell of a storm passes thru. i can barely see out of the car. and in front of me, walking in his gym clothes with his hands covering his head, completely soaked, is treg setty. so the bobber does what any gentleman would do. he honks the horn, rolls down the window, and tells treg to hop in for the one minute drive. we park the car and run thru the storm to davies (treg runs. bob shuffles.) i write the story about the day, and mention this little tidbit.
the next day i get the phone call from southern. because of my good deed, i have given treg something of value, the university will have to report it to the NCAA, treg will have to reimburse me for 1 minute in the car, and he might be ineligible on opening night. the bobber was about to put the salukis on probation!
treg gave me a penny. he says it's the one moment in carbondale he will never forget.

Meanwhile, in the ACC, they just cut out the middleman who gives a kid a 2 minute ride and just gives them the car instead. Good job NCAA.
Craving a McBride Special!

Well i was not going to out you but ok 🤣
The NCAA is so stupid
Arizona allegedly pays their players $10,000 a month and we make ours pay for a courtesy ride half-way across campus during a storm. What's wrong with the NCAA? Robert, a good deed never goes unpunished as stated by Clare Boothe Luce.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Great story, bobber--maddening, but great! 😆

So offering $100 for a selfie is out?
