It's painfully obvious that the offense needs to go through Fletcher first, Pippen second, and then the best available shot / option on the floor after those two. If Armon can take control of this team, that will open up Pippen and the rest of the guys since it creates an offensive hierarchy.
Makes sense to me.
Barry said he was going to try something different last night and he did. It was obvious from the opening tip that he turned the team loose. They were putting up shots early in the clock, just letting it fly. It actually worked as the team was having fun and being aggressive. Whether that will work on the road against Bradley on e road we'll have to see.
I think you hit on something. Barry should stand & pace with his arms crossed. Pull his pants up. Just watch the team play.
A few observations from last night (and you Hinson supporters ain't gonna like it)
1-Did SIU play that well, or did ISU Blue play that poorly? Yes, SIU shot the ball very well, but ISU's defense left a lot, an awful lot to be desired. So did ISU's shot selection and turnovers. You can't expect SIU to shoot 60%, 55% from 3 each night. They will run into a Valley team that will play defense, and shots are going to have to come from execution. SIU also shot very poorly from the FT line, and still gave up 73 points to ISU Blue.
2-Where was this play all year long? Those of you praising Hinson, why didn't he figure this out sooner if this was the way this team I supposed to play?
3-Fletcher. Its about time, this was the player people thought he could be. He still has a long way to get out of my doghouse because I think anyone who gets suspended at this point in his career, quit on his team. He could carry this team, he could shoot it down the dumper. But he has to be consistent at this level of effort to show me he's a player.
4-Pippen-I liked Pippens effort last night, and I have to wonder, how good could Pippen and Fletcher be if they played for a real coach like Weber, Painter or even Herrin?

SIU shot the piss out of the ball last night. That usually happens for most teams a few times a year. The question is what do you do to win games when you're having an average shooting night, or worse?
That was definitely the Armon Fletcher the Salukis have wanted to see more of the past couple years.
It all comes down to how we shoot the basketball.
I sat throughout the whole game and couldn't get excited, even though it was one of the best games they have played this year. The play over the past 6 games has scarred my soul. After Sunday's game on TV, I was ready to mail my remaining season tickets back while a note that said I QUIT, but didn't. This is the first time I have been this down, and I hate feeling this way.
Greatest coaching effort, I have ever seen. Give this man an extension.
Absolutely!
And a statute in front of the Arena.
Go Dawgs!
Is it normal to be depressed after a win? Heading down to the basement with a big bag of Cheetos.
In these days - only if you love SIU.
Do you deep your Cheetos in BBQ sauce?
Go Dawgs!
