I had forgotten that we have only played 2 home games this season. I think there is an inordinate amount of negativity and hand wringing being expressed. I keep going back to the fact that we are without Ebube and Muila and have been with the exception of the first game, in which Ebube played. I seriously believe that with Ebube and Hornecker in the mix this team is going to be a lot tougher to match up with. I also believe that the coaches, who see all of the players in practice constantly, may have a little better insight than the Monday morning quarterbacks. We have laid one egg, and that, of course, was at USI. We have played thus far every game but one without a legitimate center (I don’t consider Rupert to be a legitimate center). We so far have been in a race with one of our tires only half inflated. Count me out on the negativity train. Go Dawgs.
Ebube played 8 whole minutes in the opener, and it was a blowout. Given how many minutes the young guys are playing, are we sure Ebube would actually be getting much run?
And SIU isn’t playing without a center, they have a 7 footer on the bench.
Impossible to say if Scottie would get more run, but while he did play 8 minutes that was 8 minutes more than Cade - so an argument could be made Scottie is or was ahead of Cade on the depth chart.
My sincere hope, and I think everyone agrees, is that Mullins sees a future in which he's starting and/or predominantly playing one or more of his big men with Troy at the 4, and that he's just waiting to get a little more development / growth from them at that position.
I have a hunch that Lance will have a big game tonight! Go Dawgs!
Rodney Watson with Indiana State Head Coach Josh Schertz:

So far, Schertz looks like a great hire - in Year 2, he has them competing at a high level and playing a very entertaining brand of basketball. So far, much of his recruiting has been plucking former D2 stars with whom he has a lot of familiarity and connections ... it will be interesting to see how that evolves when he is farther removed from his time as a D2 coach. Terre Haute isn't the easiest place to recruit to.
This game is an absolute must win. Cant lose to anybody at home. Take the air out of the tree’s balloon
Big game Jermaine

I sure hope so because they will need him to play at a high level to win this game, making more of his shots and limiting turnovers, especially early in the game to set the tone.

I said the same thing after the loss to St Louis. I wish I could say I had a good feeling about this game, but.................................. I'm more hopeful than confident.
I'm feeling pretty confident. I think SIU matches up pretty well against this Sycamores team as opposed to a Bradley which is going to be a war. I think Indiana State is good but they haven't been tested on the road yet.
Non-conference SOS so far per KenPom:
24 - Murray
105 - SIU
110 - UNI
145 - Evansville
153 - Belmont
177 - MSU
206 - Bradley
232 - Valpo
283 - Drake
303 - Illinois St
350 - Indiana St
353 - UIC
Adds a little more light on their 8-1 record.
The Drake might disagree.
