The preview is done. It is my usual lackluster lazy effort. I would like to get some of your predictions. Let’s see what you guys think please.

A couple notes. I hate Bradley, and I think that Terry Roberts being gone will affect them more than they think. Wardle is overrated. I also am not high on Indiana State, but I do see the reason they think they can improve this year.
I really hope that the Valley can have 8 NET < 150 teams this year and Evansville and UIC can stay above 250. Preferably better than 200.

No, Sturtz is not 30, but I remember when he was!

I predict we SIU fans are in for a rough ride for the first half of the season, maybe even well into the conference season. I think there are a lot of pieces that will take a lot of time to figure out how to fit together.
I can't tell you how desperately I hope I'm wrong. It's just a gut feeling that has been reinforced by the news seeping out of these exhibitions.

It would be quite disappointing if it played out that way considering SIU has much more roster continuity than several others teams in the current college hoops landscape.

I'm hopeful for a big season from the Salukis, but the program is in prove-it mode ... need to see significant progress this year at the offensive end, and it remains to be seen whether they've added enough scoring around Domask and Jones.
There wasn't a single team I felt good about picking second, especially after Mast's injury. Missouri State could finish anywhere from 1-10 in the league with so many new guys, but their roster is pretty impressive from a length and athleticism standpoint. Mast's health is a big wild card for BU. I'm not as high on Belmont or UNI as some ... both will be pretty reliant on contributions from freshmen.
My MVC first team is Penn, DeVries, Domask, Sheppard, Mast (if Mast is healthy for enough of the season). First-team is a realistic goal for Domask and probably needed for Southern to contend.
i cannot wait to read this. my only critique is in the constant praise barkeep heaps on bradley. tired of it.

I agree.
My hope is that Rupert will spend a lot of time at the 4, thus freeing up Domask to play at the the 3, which is his natural position; Domask would be ably relieved by D'Amico. The 5 would be sorted out between the other three bigs, hopefully with Ebube and Hornecker coming along nicely, with Muila seeing an increasingly smaller role. (Nothing against Muila--except for the hideous FT shooting--but I think his injury was so severe that we will never see what the staff thought in recruiting him.)
My fear is that Mullins will default to a short-term small line-up solution because he really doesn't know what to do with this many big guys.
Again, I would really, really like to be wrong about all of this.

It would be really disappointing if there's excuses about Ebube and Wonders adapting to D1 Basketball when both could have played last year. Not like last year's team was very good or competing. Maybe it'll benefit them in a few years though.
