It doesn’t help that the brother isn’t particularly well-liked in all circles either.
And I don’t even know that many people, but I’ve heard it from 3 or 4 who actually do know a lot of folks.
Just predicting the rest of the Valley schedule:
vs Valpo win 4-6
vs Missouri State loss 4-7
@ Illinois State loss 4-8
@ Northern Iowa loss 4-9
vs Evansville win 5-9
vs Bradley win 6-9 (could go either way really)
@ Indiana State loss 6-10
vs Illinois State win 7-10
@ Drake loss 7-11
This would put SIU at 14-16 overall playing one of the weaker non-con schedules. I'm just not sure how close this thing is to heading in the right direction. Even in my worst case scenarios for this team, I never envisioned them going under .500 as a team and possibly headed for Thursday.
Obviously our offense could use a little work, but maybe give Loyola defense some credit. Loyola offense was not a thing of beauty either; good defense makes offense look bad.
Loyola is good defensively but not 86 combined points in 2 games good. There's a fundamental issue with SIU's offense. Mullins has 2 of the 3 worst scoring games in SIU history now. Given how basketball has evolved even since he played, this shouldn't be the case. There's more scoring than ever.
Well, he did learn offense under Lowery....
I appreciate the fight but the standing around on O is infuriating. I give Loyola credit, they play great D. But it’s just got to be way better especially at home. I’m disappointed at where the program is at on this day….
I see us winning 5 of our remaining 9 MVC games putting us at 8-10 and on the bubble for a possible Thursday game. Maybe we get Loyola in the tournament for some serious payback. Now that we got these make-up games over with, perhaps we can get our shooting legs back for the rest of the season.
JD Muila POG with 9 RBs, 1 blk, 1 steal, and 4 pts. I thought he played well tonight. Great effort.
Unfortunately we couldn't stop Knight - their big guy! He's tough.
The whole POG thing is stupid, even when we win. It ranks with the NFL’s Halftime Report, telling us all about what we just watched.

It hasn’t been a “normal” year schedule wise but it has to be better than what we are seeing. I’m very disappointed at this point in the year, let’s see what the rest holds.
Domask would make a great 3. Too bad he's being forced to play the 4. Matching up with and trying to shoot over players who are 6'8" 240 is a tough task for a 6'6" small forward.
It’s getting really tough to see him scuffling in the lane against bigger, more athletic defenders, so I’m all for trying something different. Maybe some bigger lineups with Domask spotting up for 3 or slashing more often. But there just aren’t enough weapons around him and they’re asking him to do more than he appears to be able to do.

Brendan is my neighbor and has been super nice to me. I don't know of anyone who doesn't like him.

Well, barring some incredible run where the Salukis win 7 of the next 8 games or something, I have no idea what could possibly turn this season around.
And this team simply isn’t capable of that. I wish they were.
Never dreamed the third year of Bryan Mullins would be like this. But It is and has been all season.
Whether it’s tomorrow morning or after the season, Bryan needs to work his coaching network and find some people willing to have some real talk with him about coaching offense. It takes a special level of stubbornness/denial to think this staff has the answers at this point.
Brutal to watch the kids’ defensive efforts go to waste like this.

Wouldn’t know the guy if he walked past me. Just saying what I have heard.
And of course he’s nice to you if you’re his neighbor.

I have not given up on BM but this is not acceptable. Fingers crossed for a MVC run in STL…
I’ve been off the board for awhile but watched every game available on ESPN+ etc…..I’m just not seeing it.
if someone wants to change my mind have at it, I’m searching for optimism at this point.
Let’s Go Brendan!

I’m not giving up on Bryan either. I truly like the guy and thought he was THE GUY to lead SIU.
Results and the eye test say otherwise.
As long as he brings in a couple of immediate contributors next year, we will be ok.
But I don’t see any kind of run in St Louis at all. Rich Herrin did that 3 years in a row but those teams had talent.
