Smart (no pun intended) would be a smart hire. But it will never happen.
Thoughts on Kent Williams? He has been an assistant as well for a while; was at Tennessee prior to Rick Barnes strolling in and starting over with his own staff.
I have really no interest in Kent Williams. The fact Martin didnt keep him and the fact after he lost the job with Martin he fell to SIUE before falling out of college basketball coaching all together is a massive red flag to me. I know the formal reason is not wanting to uproot his family, and if that is true that doesnt really scream "hungry drive to be a successful college coach"
Did Kent lose his job with Martin, or did he just decide to not move to the West Coast?
There is a big difference in relocating a family 2,000 miles from the St. Louis area to Berkeley, California compared to the 500 miles to Knoxville, Tennessee. The cost of living in the Berkeley area of California compared to the St. Louis area alone would make a big difference on an Assistant Coach salary.
Sometimes individuals have to be smart, and make the best decision financially.

I can't say for sure, but my understanding from others was that Martin decided not to take him when he made the jump.

Yea but if your goal is to be a coach in college basketball you dont give up a BCS job. If you dont want to have to move your family that is fine, but then the college coaching game probably isnt for you. He's been out of the college game for 2 years now and been out of the high tier college game for what, 4 or 5 years? Any recruiting connections he had are dead. Like I said big no thanks for me
Ken Moses from Missouri State University will be on staff. He is the fiance of the Marketing lead at SIU.
Was Kill in Chicago to meet with GI Joe?
Craving a McBride Special!
Was Kill in Chicago to meet with GI Joe?
No way he approach Mullins in season

That would be a big no no
Ya that would be a no-go, however I do believe I saw Kill sitting behind one of the baskets.
Mullins is my top choice. Let's make it happen.
So would beane be the interim coach until next year if it all works out.
I do not know who they would name at this point. I am pretty sure nobody will be retained though
I don't think he's available, but Giovanni has Augustana(IL) ranked #1 in Div 3 again.

So you think a mid season change would come with a complete new staff ? Or are you talking about end of season change?
A mid season change would only mean firing the HC. The assistant coaches would then try to regroup and finish out the season on a positive note.
The advantage by firing the HC now is you get a jump-start on all of the other schools that will be making coaching changes at the end of the year. Every year there are 20-30 coaching changes, so Jerry Kill could start getting resumes in now and also field calls from the sports agents who represent existing coaches. This is no longer a great job, but still an upgrade for many up and comers who are at small D-1 schools, or assistants looking for an opportunity. The AD just has to make a good decision and not another Gottfried, Van Winkle, or Hinson!
