I still find it comical SIU is so braindead they are hiring an under qualified assistant because he is in a relationship with someone who works for the school.  Even when they do things right they still have to do something dumb

Could someone please explain the highlighted area?

It’s referring to Ken Moses whose fiancé is the marketing lead at SIU

You're talking about Matt Painter I guess?

IMHO SIU made a good choice. Bryan has playing experience, collegiate and professional. He has been credited with developing players into not only good BB players, but exemplary student-athletes. The last 3 years he has had associate coaching duties on a developing team. Being the head coach of a college basketball team is like being CEO of a small company. His 4.0 grade point college record gives me confidence he can understand the minutia necessary to direct a successful program. One of the things missing in SIU's program (at least to me) is fun. Even when we won the games weren't fun. I'm hopeful he can bring back the spirit and fun for the players and fans.

Well DOBO is fine, he had been mentioned as a potential assistant for the last several weeks.  DOBO is a little different than that and I have no problem with it

Yes.

Yes it was... for five years.

Did Self politic for Barry just to get him out?

Would you kick the tires on...Rick Pitino?

https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/candid-coaches-after-being-fired-from-louisville-will-rick-pitino-ever-coach-college-basketball-again/

I think I would. On second thought--I know I would.

It doesn't hurt to ask.

...and you know what 'they' say--the safest time to dine at a restaurant is the month after the Health Department found some violations and ordered that corrective action be taken.

Whattaya think? Would Saluki MBB fans and donors...welcome a chastened Rick Pitino?

Says here they would.

There are rumors that UNLV has already offered him a 2.5 million dollar contract after this season.   If that is anywhere close to accurate, we don't have the budget to compete.

http://sportsmockery.com/2019/01/bad-idea-unlv-basketball-should-not-consider-disgraced-coach-rick-pitino/

Good God, can you imagine the hookers and porn stars Pitino could supply recruits at UNLV?  Holy holes, Batman!!

Pitino should be out for good.  He knew exactly what was going on.  The biggest and best coaches are all control freaks, they all have spies, they all know what's going on in their programs.

I hope Bill Self bites it next.

Here Rick Pitino is back in the NCAA tournament, leading Iona....

While is son Richard Pitino got fired from Minnesota after a second sub-.500 season. (but he is going to New Mexico)

Royce Waltman put it best-

“I can’t get a head coaching job, because if you get fired for cheating you can get rehired, but if you get fired for losing it’s like you have leprosy. Young coaches need to bear that in mind. Cheating and not graduating players won’t get you in trouble, but that damn losing will,” Waltman jested. “I’d like to stay in basketball, but I’m realistic. I don’t want to go back to Bedford High School and coach the team and that’s about the only job I could get. For the right guy, I’d be an assistant, I’d be a scout. I’m not ready to retire.”

@woofie2 The NCAA is in it for the NCAA. Time for dismantling and a restart.
