@salukiworld I get it this game was bad. It’s also a really bad match up for a really tired you team. There’s people in here basing the entire future of the program off this game or year and that’s a large stretch.

Yeah well, he's wrong. I'm still happy with the direction of the program and Mullins as a coach. And I do agree having a young team during a crazy pandemic year is not ideal.

Patience and persistence. Character building, if you prefer.
March on triumphantly!
2 home games with Valpo left which will probably determine our fate as to whether we avoid the Thursday play in game. With 2 wins we should wrap up the 6th spot. It will be a tough assignment, but at this point it would be a positive in a long season of negatives. Take away the crazy start to this one and the game is relatively close. Mullins thought the team was ready to play, which we have all heard him say more than once before. Maybe starting line up needs revamping. Harvey continues to improve on his D. Right now I would like to see Dembele take more of D'vanzzo's minutes.

When was the last time 6-12 was good enough to avoid Thursday?
This team will deservedly be in the play-in round, even in a year with a weak bottom half of the league, especially with Bradley reeling.
The top four teams of the Valley are basically set, Loyola, Drake, Missouri State, and Indiana State. After that there could be three teams tied at 6-12 and three teams tied at 5-13 to finish conference play. Two of those three teams at 6-12 will not be Thursday night teams. It may come down to NET rankings to determine the two teams that will not be playing on Thursday.
This is just a projection though. There are still 15 games to play.

I don't know when the last time 6-12 was good enough to avoid Thursday, but if you look at the remaining schedule, the odds are in favor of it happening this year. I don't think SIU "deserves" to be in the play-in round. Since both SIU and Valpo are the only 2 teams in the bottom half of the league with 4 games left to play, I like our chances of finishing 6th if we beat them twice and earn the tie breaker against them. UNI has to beat Il State twice at their place to make it to 7-11 and I agree that BU will probably not make it out of Thursday.

Watson said he was glad refs were letting them play. I'm ok with that to a point, but Banks, Jones, Harvey all got hammered driving the basket...no call.
Thought Harvey played better than he has in a while. Good game for him. We shot 34.5% and 25% from 3 and 50% fts...can't beat anybody shooting like that. Too much reliance on the 3.
Mo St shot 52%...that's outstanding, and Prim had his best game ever.
No way we finish in 10th next year. We aren't going to win the MVC but I firmly believe we'll be much improved.
We can beat Valpo! Go Dawgs!
I understand the criticism of this year’s team and the lack of effort, but projecting we’ll be a play-in team or in 10th place next year and the year after is a bad take. We hopefully won’t be in 10th this year and will add athleticism and size next year. We have no idea what SIU or the Valley will look like in 2 years so projecting that far into the future is hopeless.

I agree with you on Ben Harvey. At first glance he looks like he shouldn't be out there, and then he goes and proves you wrong with a nice fade away or a defensive play. I think he is adjusting to the quickness of this league compared to the OVC. He stayed with his man better, his weak side help was better and I didn't notice any big relapses. If he can bulk up a few pounds I think we will be mentioning him in the same breath with Domask and Jones.

Literally NOBODY is doing what you are accusing them of. Someone on here called you a polyanna or something and I think that's accurate. We used to call you guys "Koolaid Drinkers" or "Apologists" back when Lowery and Hinson were tanking the program. That's NOT the case now and I haven't heard a single person say they didn't have faith in Mullins or the direction of the program.
The negative comments have been directed to the CURRENT team and are accurate. We suck. Discussing why that is, whether it's a lack of athletes, bad luck, injuries, or whatever is fair game. You don't need to jump on anyone who makes a negative comment. That's not cool.
As someone who knows the coaching staff and has been involved in the recruiting process along the way, I can tell you I have a lot of faith in the Mullins brothers. Next year's class is very highly rated and they may not be done. They also had a commitment from a true athletic swing man (AJ Slaton-McCray) that went south when his AAU coach landed a college job.
As for this year. We got unlucky when JD Muila went down for the year. And obviously the Domask injury is hurting us right now. I believe we had some recruiting misses on Eric Butler and Jakoby Long. I also think we put too much hype on the D2 and Low Major transfers we signed (Verplancken, D'Avanzo, Harvey). The development of Banks & Filewich has certainly been a positive. But overall, it's been a pretty brutal season and acknowledging that does not make one less of a Saluki fan.
@rockin-dawgim guessing you haven’t read Saluki-4 life’s posts
Yes, I've read his and those from Thunellvision. I realize they are on the negative side, but both have legit concerns about the team.
@rockin-dawg I just think it comes off as trolling when certain people literally only show up to complain when a team loses.
