2018-2019 is the most anticipated season in years.  We are the only conference team with all 5 starters back -- 4 of them seniors.  I would love to see this group go to the NCAA tourney.  However, I am still not optimistic that we'll win the conference or the MVC tourney.  I still can't get excited about a Chester Cheetos team.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Could have fooled me, I have zero excitement about the upcoming season. is having all 5 starters back from a mediocre to bad team supposed to be hype building?

Agreed. We have all five starters back, yet this "most anticipated" team isn't expected by ANYONE, most of all the coaching staff, to be even competitive with KY. Not even competitive. What is there to anticipate besides more mediocrity?

The community has already voted with their dollars on the level of excitement. If you can't see the direction they are voting and how this is trending, then I can't help you. Maybe some folk inside the Carbondale Bubble think there's excitement, but the attendance trends over the last few years tell a different tale. The folk inside the bubble better start listening to those outside, because if they don't, the bubble is going to burst. Some could argue it's bursting already.

Yeah....a change is in order.  Those individuals that continue to try and cram this down fan's throats really need to wake up.  It's not good for anything or anyone....except those that want things to remain the same.  I expect more from SIU and this athletic department.

Yes this season is much anticipated. The program has a chance to hit rock bottom on Dec. 8. Lose the Big 3 jr., slu, semo this would be rock bottom.

While I bleed maroon, I have a feeling we will struggle to break 500 in the valley.

If we finish .500, that means probably 5 teams finish ahead of us. I don’t believe that will happen.

We had a second place team last season and didn’t have an influx of community support, the attendance was still bad if not worse. If we do bad this year, this could get much uglier. I hope I’m dead wrong and SIU wins Arch Madness, but I simultaneously have a hard time believing it can happen.

I picked us 3rd but I don’t blame anyone who has SIU picked lower than that.

I had SIU picked  5th or 6th. Now with Illinois state having their problems I guess 4th or 5th.  I also see little hope of winning in STL

I anticipate a finish 3rd to 6th, lose on Friday or Saturday in St Louis and again no post season.

Yes, pretty much this. There will be another empty "second (oro third) place" finish, meaning finishing four games back. Then a not-very-close 10-15-point loss in the tourney.

BUT! 20 WINS!!! GREAT season!

Hey Terriers, do you remember  Terrier basketballer Chris Woolard?

If you attend the SIU/KY game say hello to Chris.

Chris Woolard completed his seventh season as UK’s associate athletics director for basketball operations in 2017-18.

...A native of Carbondale, Illinois, Woolard earned a bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA in August 1997....
