Barry just crying away on post game
That was an ugly watch. Even for a bad team like Missouri State, to miss that many bunnies ... wow. The Salukis are lucky as hell to win that one. If the MVC was what it was 6-8 years ago, I'd say this looks like a sub-.500 SIU team. But the league is terrible.
I’m apathetic enough right now that I realized SIU just played. At least we covered - oh wait, we didn’t cover? Now the grey hairs will get angry. That explains why Barry was complaining on the radio after the win.
We've Disimproved! Really not very good I'm afraid. Thank God for Pippen, Lloyd, and McGill or we'd be unundefeated! Not sure how much better we'd be with Fletcher.
Some thoughts:
1) Upon Armon's return, McGill starts instead of Bartley
2) After an extended hiatus, Aaron Cook showed up the last 2 minutes.
3) Pippens sub: Gooch or Rudy?
Nice to get the win without two of your best players on the court - Sure would be nice to have Thik and Armon back soon
I think it's safe to say that Bartley is not as advertised. Seems like such a good kid and a great student, but that shouldn't earn him such a long leash on the court. McGill and Beane should be starting right now. With Fletcher back, Bartley should be spot duty only.
Speaking of Fletcher, he's the difference maker on this team in a big way. In spite of a critical case of coaching sabotage, this is an above-average team with Fletch and a healthy Thik Bol.
--Insert something witty here--
Keep in mind, Bartley was forced to play the 4 last night because of foul trouble and a short bench. Another reason why Hinson needs to be canned. He refuses to recruit forwards...
Also I'm starting to lose faith in Aaron Cook. I don't think he's capable of being a starter and is probably better off playing limited minutes off the bench.
Also, PLAY THE GOOCH. I want to see him starting a game or two to get him ready for next season.

AC will come around - he started to show flashes of it last night, but the turnovers need to come back down. He's too good of a player, and now a junior for that many turnovers the last few games.
What was frustrating to me last night was the second half substitution pattern: I get that BH wanted to run with his upperclassmen, but they were not getting it done. If the guards were unable to get inside to Kavion, the offense on the perimeter was non-existent and typically ended up in a turnover. After one or two of those possessions max, BH should have substituted an AC or a Bartley for a Beane or a Gooch - both of those guys don't hesitate to take a good shot when they have it, and sitting one of your starters late in the game when they're frustrated can give them a minute to rest and clear their head.
Gooch does not impress me very much. maybe it's the short stints of playing time. He seems lackadaisical
Cook does not seem to have a very good court awareness. He gets caught with his pants down often when he has the ball with less than 10 seconds on shot clock
Yeah, we beat a bad team at home barely. Woooohoooo

Yeah, good point about Hinson and the lack of roster balance since he's been here. Dana Ford in his first season on the job at Mo. State has 3 returnees from Lusk and a whole roster of guys he found in a short amount of time. Already kicked our tail on recruiting and he had way less time to build his roster. I predict Mo. State will be the pride of the league within 2-3 years. They have the facilities, the city and the money behind their program to make a run, especially with the current state of the Valley in future years.
BH has had so many unbalanced rosters in his tenure. At first, he said it was due to recruiting and that it would take time to get over guys like Jeff Early playing the hybrid four spot. Here we are in year 7 with Sean Lloyd (a natural 2/3) playing the four spot. Marcus Bartley, a shooting guard, playing point forward and Brendon Gooch and Armon Fletcher who would be best suited at the 2/3 playing the 4.

He can rebound and shoot (when he's hot). Would agree he has not looked sharp the last few games, as the rest of the team. Unfortunately we have a lot of 1-2 dimensional players.

I would agree this has been the case since the UMass beatdown, but what a game against KY! I blame some of this on some Barry-Armon invisible funk cloud hanging over us.
