Gooch has potential.  He can shoot the three, he plays decent defense, and is a good rebounder.  The problem is you can tell he doesn't have any confidence when he goes in because normally the first mistake he makes he gets pulled.

Murray State's Morant is now projected as the 4th player chosen in the NBA draft.

Where do they find these guys?

He sure as heck was a freakshow when he played SIU.   I don't know about 4th overall, but he will be a lottery pick for sure.   I was so impressed with his overall game.  Basketball IQ and slick passes were awesome.

Where did they get him, and how did he not end up playing for a high-major program?

Leads all D1 players in assists.

Now projected top 3 in NBA draft. He was 6' 2" 155 in HS, all-state, averaged almost a triple double Jr. and Sr. year (in S.C.), averaged 27 points. Had offers from S. Carolina, Murray State, Duquesne, SC State, Wofford, Maryland Eastern-Shore, High Point and UNC-Asheville, Winthrop, UTEP,  and Coastal Carolina (and possibly others).

Murray's recruiting class last year was top 10 of schools outside Power 5 conferences.

I'm surprised he chose Murray State over a couple of those.

Especially S.C of the SEC. They probably got in on him late, and maybe Frank Martin was a little scary!   😀

Murray's coach said they spotted him when they were down south recruiting another player. Just by luck Moran was playing against their recruit and they were so impressed they invited him for a visit and he verbal ed while visiting. The other recruit signed too and is there 2nd best player. Some luck involved but kudos to Murray's coach for recognizing Moran's potential.

Murray State's Moran gets 18 assists last night. That's more than most teams get in a night.

Pros are going to love him.
