I am in the minority here.  I wanted Mullins to get a five year extension because he wanted to be in Carbondale.  Sort of like Oakland which has had its coach for 40 years.  And this is my opinion and I don’t care what anyone else thinks.

I get your feelings, it would be nice to have a coach stay, like Mark Few did at Gonzaga. He didn't run for the easy money, he stayed and got the money by building them into a perennial title contender. But Oakland is a really really bad example. That guy has been there for 40 years because he isn't very good, and their administration is ok with that. I'd rather have a university that wants to win, not one that is just ok with not being very good.

I get what you are saying. I just believe in smart hard working people rather than winning the lottery.  Bryan will land somewhere and be successful and we will be saying what if we had given him more time.  I digress now and I stand with all five of those players could make the Drpaul squad and help them out.

I think Ebube, Troy, Hensley, Davis and Rupert could play and be successful.  Hensley has the potential to be a player like Pittsnogle from WVU who destroyed us in the NCAA tourney.

The same Ebube that everyone said was going to transfer due to playing time issues?  Or the same players that some said were on the SIU roster that wasn’t going to be good this year….or the same players that were used to say Mullins couldn’t recruit?

Just being a smart ass….not even sure your stance on this issue.  But sometimes it’s like we talk out of both sides of our mouth here.

EXACTLY !!!  Heck, maybe some of those players will bypass DePaul and go straight to Duke, North Carolina or Houston ?  LMBO

Of that entire group, the only one I think, again these are all just opinions, could play NOW in the Big East is Davis.

If Mullins won 161 games in his first 5 years at SIU and made the tournament ALL 5 years, I assure you he wouldn't have been fired.  : )~    I know you were NOT comparing the two, but I still wanted to look up the stats and, since I did that out of curiosity, I thought I would share.

what I am gonna hate is if every decent coach looks and says “Carbondale is gonna be a difficult place to win, why do I wanna leave my less paying good job for more money but difficult to build!”  We will see what happens.

What are you talking about? Who won 161 games in their first 5 years?

Few

and im really not sure what even brought that comment up. I never said anything about Few being fired at siu, or anything about him other than how he stayed at Gonzaga. Not sure what you guys are even talking about.

I speculated that he was talking about Few.  Sorry did not mean enough to me to look up.

Allow me to try and connect the dots.  You responded to a post where the person said he wanted Mullins to stay.  You then said, "it would be nice to have a coach stay...." and then used Few as an example.  That is what I was responding to.  Mark Few won 133 games in his first 5 years at Gonzaga, I mistakenly counted year 6-LOL (good catch) - STILL incredibly impressive averaging 26.6 per year.  I was making the point that if Mullins won enough, or even close to the amount of games that Few won, he would still be here.

@insaluki Let me connect this dot for you Mr Wonderful.  Few did not establish Gonzaga Dan Monson did...52-17 before going to Minn and leaving Few in charge.

We really have people comparing Mullins to Mark Few? I didn’t agree with SIU firing him, but some of this cult mentality regarding BM has gone overboard.

Yet ANOTHER keyboard tough guy !!  : )

LOL - Where did I say that Few built the program?

Why is it seemingly always the posters with less than 10 posts that are so aggressive, defensive, etc?
