X might be gassed or battling some nagging injuries who knows he might of just had a poor game in some aspects but with 5 steals and 9 assists still respectable and if a poor night shooting and extra turnovers isn't he allowed after all he has been extremely consistent all year till tonight and isn't great to see other people step up so X doesn't have to carry the team and isn't that pretty important
Exactly. Every negative argument people want to use just keeps crumbling under them so they move the goal posts again. It’s all about X!… then last night happens and he didn’t do well enough he’s too tired and that’s bad. We suck in the portal but X, Hensley and AJ are pretty damn good. Can’t recruit but Kennard, Troy and Ebube are pretty damn good. Can’t coach, but a last minute illness calls for changes. Prepared and fine. Can’t coach bigs but Hensley didn’t so bad last night huh? I can’t wait to hear the next one.
Calm down Mrs. Mullins
Jacobi Wood has played virtually the same minutes as XJ has this year and he seems to be doing just fine. Also, XJ has scored 29, 35, 17, 17 & 21pts in the last 5 games. He's also 23 years old. I am not saying XJ should be playing every minute of every game (especially earlier in the seaons during blow outs) but I also do not agree that, just because he's had 1 bad game now, that it's all because of him being tired. Take a look at the list of players that play almost as many minutes as XJ (Boo Buie, Tyler Perry, Baylor Schierman, Dajuan Harris, etc) these are all CRITICAL players on Power 5 schools. This is not an isolated thing.
All due respect, X is clearly gassed. Don’t know how it could be any more apparent.
Tonight it came to a head but he hasn’t been as explosive or efficient much of the conference season.
Your respect is appreciated. I'm not saying he hasn't been overused, but I disagree that is the sole reason for his struggle last night. IN almost every game this year where he struggled in the first half of a game, I read where he was tired...then in most games (including one where he scored 25pts in the 2nd half) the tired discussion went away. I'll bet donuts (or beers) that X scores 20+ points next game and looks good.
Not saying it's the sole reason but I do believe it is the biggest one. You see it not only in the poor shooting/inability to finish drives, but in several of the sloppy turnovers. And just because he is able to regroup/summon extra energy at times (he is a great competitor and a very talented player) does not mean fatigue isn't a major concern.
Here's hoping he does regroup and play great ball these last three games and into St. Louis.
X is banged up, I blame that more than fatigue. He drives the middle and draws those hard fouls, I’m sure the opposing coaches tells his players to be physical with him in hopes of wearing him down.

He does take a beating - all those fouls drawn and free throws attempted come at a price. All the more reason not to further grind him down for the most important part of the season.
In the NFL they give some guys veteran days off practice here and there. The next couple days seem like a great opportunity to do that.

All you folks have now is lame, tired comebacks. love it. Give my husband an extension though!

It's probably good timing that the Evansville game is Sunday instead of Saturday. Gives everyone one extra day to rest up and recuperate.

As far as not holding the lead in the 2nd half it seems pretty common place in college basketball these days don't like but a win is a win and at least we didn't blow a 10 point lead in the last 2 minutes like the Illini

Yeah, the people who point to this clearly are not watching games every night. Commonplace. You don't run away and hide in conference games. Ever heard basketball is a game of runs? it isn't just words, it's true. We made ours to get up, they made theirs to get back and we finished it making the plays to win. Sounds like a good thing.
Still holding a grudge, huh? If you don't want to appear to be a douchebag, then don't come on here after every win acting like you were the only one rooting for the team. It's quite annoying.

I am not the only one rooting for the team... I know that... I am just one of a few not dying for a chance to type out how bad they are and why the coach is a failure after every loss... Huge difference.

You have assembled an entire army of straw men.
😆
I can think of very few people on this board who fit your description of what you obviously think of the majority of posters.
(Inflammatory political snark)

You are right, not the majority, just the most persistent.
I must say that after an extremely emotional win on Saturday vs #23 Indiana State, last nights victory was pretty special. Hensley is displaying the intangibles I thought he would bring a bit earlier in the season. Davis is showing more maturity and initiative late in games. We most certainly saw more of Scottie, but can understand why his minutes have been somewhat limited this year. Really needs to become dedicated to slimming down, and his overall health. His potential, per discussed here is unmatched. Both TD, and TB came up big in many facets last night. Great win indeed.
Evansville plays exceptionally well at home, and are much improved under the new coaching regime. It won't be easy, much like any other MVC road game. Keep it rolling Dawgs!!!
Definitely don't want Ebube to slim down, his size is his big advantage. What we need is for him to improve his cardio fitness but add on 10lbs of muscle in the process. More fit = good. Less size = not good.I must say that after an extremely emotional win on Saturday vs #23 Indiana State, last nights victory was pretty special.
