I kept hearing all these great basketball minds talk about how Greg Lansing is such a good coach, teacher of the game, blah blah blah over the years and I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt because of it, but if he can’t do better than this with Tyreke Key, Jordan Barnes, and Christian Williams on his team he should get the axe. Mercy.
A Lansing firing is way overdue
I hope there is as an epic of a speech as Royce Waltman-
“I can’t get a head coaching job, because if you get fired for cheating you can get rehired, but if you get fired for losing it’s like you have leprosy. Young coaches need to bear that in mind. Cheating and not graduating players won’t get you in trouble, but that damn losing will,” Waltman jested. “I’d like to stay in basketball, but I’m realistic. I don’t want to go back to Bedford High School and coach the team and that’s about the only job I could get. For the right guy, I’d be an assistant, I’d be a scout. I’m not ready to retire.”
(he has a very similar track record, come in, win big, settle back in the valley)
Waltman was spot on. Coaches that win, but cheat in order to do so, move on to their next gig, while coaches that lose but run a clean program and graduate kids are kicked to the curb as opposed to getting the 2nd chance. The NCAA needs to ban coaches that take cheating to new heights (hello Rick Pitino).
How would the landscape change if coaches were held accountable with their programs?! I have never understood why the penalties go to the players and school and not anything of significance to the coaches. Wonder how the FBI investigation is going?

long time teflon suit coaching Calimari (each team went down with NCAA violations after he left, UMass and Memphis)
Finals starting to trickle in on a loaded MVC night
Memphis currently up 14 on Bradley who scored 19 points in the first half. Illinois State down 6 at TCU.

Darrell Brown having an absolute nightmare game for Bradley in his return to his hometown of Memphis. Childs getting no help for BU.
Seat has to be getting hot at turd state

It feels like Illinois State is competitive in every game they play no matter who they play but the outcome is always the same.
I was watching some of the game last night and Antonio Reeves looks impressive.
Aces eke out a win over W. Illinois 90-86.
If you're gonna reply to me in the forums, please quote what I wrote that you're replying to so I have a clue...thanks! 😀
MVC will 4-0 this afternoon assuming Bradley doesn't blow a 26-pt lead with 3 minutes left, 5-0 if we take care of biz.

MVC showing signs of a turnaround after some bad losses earlier in the year. Need to keep the momentum, and winning, up.
The MVC really needed some solid non-conference wins in order to move up in the conference rankings. Unfortunately, Missouri State and a couple of other teams don't appear to be as strong as many thought they would be. I think the MVC is going to be a one bid league again this year......unless some of the teams the league has scored wins over, turn into NCAA Tournament qualifiers.

Northern Iowa has had the best non-conference so far (only loss being a blown lead/heartbreaker to West Virginia), and if they were to win their final three non-con games (at Colorado, at Grand Canyon, home vs. Marshall), AND win the MVC regular season, they might put themselves in position, but obviously those are tall orders.
Missouri State has absolutely been a disappointment, and has some health issues to boot, most notably newcomer of the year candidate Gaige Prim missing some games with an unspecified, recurring health concern. Bradley has the nice W against Kansas State but laid eggs in its other marquee games vs. Northwestern and Memphis. Loyola also has dealt with some injuries and appears to be playing better/getting healthier now, but too late to salvage what was a mediocre non-conference showing. And Evansville has the whopper win over Kentucky but hasn't played well enough since then. Drake, Indiana State and Valpo have had their moments (Sycamores have won five straight after starting 0-4), while SIU and Illinois State have had the weakest showings.
Bottom line: you're very likely right on another one-bid year, unfortunately.

In theory 2 bids could be possible if UNI and Evansville are 1/2 - and go down to a last second shot at Arch in St Louis maybe 2 teams get in.
1 - Stay healthy and winning
2 - Play as good in March as they are now.
3 - Manage a top 25 ranking or stay in the top 50 teams discussed through the season. (maybe even pull a BBQ Hinson Murray state interview to keep attention)
