It's clear there is no dominant team in the MVC this year, and one of the other supposed contenders, Illinois State, appears to have some serious dysfunction. Loyola's depth remains a major question mark. Bradley has been up and down, and struggles to score. If the MVC poll were retaken right now, I think there's a very good chance SIU would be projected to win the league.
Given the lack of a dominant team in the league and with such a veteran squad, it is time for Hinson to deliver a regular season and/or Arch Madness championship this season. Hopefully even the powers (cronies?) that be at SIU understand it's time for that to happen.
A couple of MVC teams, Missouri State and Indiana State, are about to get a boost with some transfers getting eligible at the semester. Mo State gets a much-hyped Xavier transfer and local kid (Jared Ridder) and the Trees add a pair of guards to bolster what will be a very deep backcourt, one from Butler and the other from Iowa.
Neither team is a legit contender this year, but the additions should help both teams' causes to avoid Thursday and will make the league a little deeper.
It is still early, but I thought the Valley was going to be decent this year. So far, not good.
UNI losing to Dubuque at the half. What is going on with the Panthers?

Loyola managed to run up 41 points in yet another loss.
Valpo beats GW.
Drake listed as 13.5 favorites against Iowa State; I would take Iowa State to cover that in a heartbeat.

ESPN still showing that spread but it's wrong. Drake +13.5 is correct.
