Salukis open Valley play with a rare Monday game in Terre Haute. Speaking of unusual, the Sycamores have had a weird first part of the season, starting 0-4 and winning seven in a row since. They did have a tough early schedule (including Dayton and Louisville). Based on their recent upswing, if the MVC poll were taken today, I'm guessing they'd be picked in the upper half of the conference, or at least in the 5-6 range. Tyreke Key is a POY candidate, and some talented newcomers have improved Indiana State's depth and frontcourt.
The Salukis will probably be an underdog in each MVC road game this year, and certainly this one, but if they could somehow pull it off, there's a chance for a good start in conference play with winnable home games against Illinois State and Valpo next up the first week of January. Hopefully Cook is back for this one and in good form.
KenPom has #122 Indiana State beating #195 SIU 69-62.
Indiana State is the hottest team in the Valley outside Northern Iowa. They played Dayton and Duquesne tight and have wins over North Dakota St. and Wright St.
The Sycamores are 6th in the country in 3 point shooting (40.8%) and 14th in the country in steal %. They're led by Junior Tyreke Key who gets to the free throw line a ton. He's 25th in the country in fouls drawn per 40 minutes and 80th in the country in FT rate.

Pom gets this one wrong and the Salukis tighten their grip on 1st-place in the MVC!

I am so ready to start drinking kool-aid...all these guys need to do is give me an itsy bitsy excuse.
If AC is back we have a chance; I'd like to think our senior guards' defense will be able to limit Key and Barnes' offense, although Key may not be able to be stopped.
Game is on FoxSportsMidwest, 671 on Directv and 665-1.

barnes and key are a handful. mcgill's experience will handle one of them. their inside guys are very young. we have a chance if we can avoid one of those prolonged scoring droughts.
Craving a McBride Special!
Cook cleared to play. It's unknown if he will play at InSU.
