I walked into the old barn last night with a healthy share of trepidation and worry knowing that we have played a lot of big games the last several years with little success.  In fact we were humiliated by 30/40 points with our team totally unprepared for the challenge.  Our few big crowds went home early and disappointed. Who could blame them.  Last night however SIU answered every situation and with a team that often had 3/4 freshmen on the floor at the same time beat an experienced good team with star power and sent them packing.  Obviously it is a new day.  We are all aware there will be times when it won't go our way but it will not be because our team is unprepared or scared.  Last night the joint was rocking and a relatively big crowd had a ball.  People should want to come see this team.  The players and the coaches give it all they got and seem to have a decent amount of fun while they at it.  Spread the word!  And pass that cool aid to me.

Great game.  Sustained defensive energy was definitely the difference maker in the win along with reduction in turnovers.  If they bring that defensive intensity game in and out we are going to be a solid team that you won't want to have to play come tournament time.  Big game for Lance and Trent.  Lance was relentless going to the basket especially late in the clock and Trent's two threes game at an important time of the game.  4,300 for a crowd is not a big crowd in my mind.  Late start and cold weather probably kept many away, but this team deserves to be supported and I hope the attendance grows as the season winds down.

Attendance has been pretty disappointing this year.  Even in the dog days of Lowery and Hinson, they’d be able to fill the bleachers on the top of each side.  It makes sense though given they haven’t made even an NIT since Mullins was playing and Hinson turned a lot of people off.  I do think winning will bring people back, a game like last night is huge for people buy in again and want to be back at the Arena.

Even though they number was low, thought every bit of those 4,300 showed up.

More than cold weather here; sleet and icy roads made driving a fool's choice.

At halftime interview, Jacobson said it reminded him of the old days when SIU and UNI would be 20-20 at the half, 40-40 at the end of regulation and go into OT. I've always liked Ben as a coach and person, now Bryan and his staff are showing that winning is the culture of effort and hard work.

This is so much fun. I refuse to get to high this year but next year all bets are off. Bryan was always the choice and he is proving why.  I am going to enjoy every moment because I honestly can not see him not being picked away in 3-4 years   GO DAWGS

The Purple Kitty fans are complaining about the officiating. I honestly did see some calls that could have went the other way, but for both teams. We out played them. Sorry they got their confident a$$es handed to them. UNI fans, the Saluki dog is returning back to the top of the league. You've been warned. BMull is making Saluki Basketball GREAT again!

I was disappointed that only 4,300 showed up, but I understand bad roads.  If we pick off State on Saturday then we better fill some seats for the Loyola game.

I'm a thousand miles from the Arena, but I've made to about a quarter of the home games this year (and Barkeep keeps stiffing me for silly little things like work and needing to pay the mortgage) so I don't want to hear any more excuses!!  We wanted the circus booted out of town and we got it.  Let's get some more people in our house!

If the big boys come calling, it means we’re in good shape again so not even concerned.  But Mullins is making pretty good money at his alma mater for a first time head coach.  I think it’s gonna be pretty hard to pluck him when the time comes.  Yet another reason why this looks like a home run hire.

I was looking forward to going, but stayed home with chills & body aches.  Watching on TV was the best I could do....sorry!

They got a pretty good break after the replay review with 10 seconds left in the game...

I’m pretty impartial when it comes to the refs.  I never like to use them as an excuse when we lose and I’ll admit when we got a huge advantage.  Didn’t notice anything last night with the refs.  Maybe the Salukis got a few calls but Trent Brown was also called for a foul when he took an elbow to the chin.
