This seems to have blown up and now we’re getting overreactions. From all I’ve seen this is similar to the flu and they don’t force fans to stay at home every year.
Starting tomorrow, the Big Ten tourney will be fan-less as well.

You don't understand. Unlike the flu there is no vaccine for coronavirus yet.

While I don’t agree with this decision. If you are over 70 or have Diabetes or have cancer it is pretty serious. Now if people are still going to the store this is silly
A bigger story is what if a player tests positive? That team would have to drop out minimum
You can disagree with the steps being taken, but this pretty much lays out the choices being taken or not taken. Quit acting like it's b.s.--doing so makes you look like way more of an idiot than the people deciding to cancel stuff. (For the record, I--at this point--don't think draconian measures are needed, but that opinion could change. I've already moved away from the "this is ridiculous" camp to the "Hmm, this is no laughing matter" camp in just a couple of days.)
From the UK, but it applies here:
The point of these measures is to slow down the spread so that health care systems are not overwhelmed all at once.
Also, this. More about choices to be made:

Man this is sad. Not saying that it is or isn't the correct decision. Feel sorry for the teams that make it. Can you imagine playing on the biggest stage in college basketball, and there is nobody in the stands. Wow! I am kind of glad we did not win the MVC now.
It is the right decision. Anybody paying attention knows the virus is spreading like wildfire and the nations health facilities are operating near capacity already. Draconian measures will slow the spread as they have in China and South Korea. But it really is sad for players and fans-----and a commercial disaster for game sites.
The market has taken a hit because of this damn virus.....and the economy isn't far behind.

Yup. Media driven, and the media is politically driven, create a panic. You know the rest.

Italy's # of infected quadrupled in a week, which is why they've taken insanely drastic measures. This is NOT an overreaction and this is not "media driven". As stupid as it seems short-term, this is the responsible action to take.

NBA season has been suspended. A player is believed to have it. MLS players in Europe are being diagnosed as positive too. Lots impacted by this. I don't advocate for panic, but be responsible and stay away from crowds for a while...it's not a bad idea.
People need to take this seriously.
oh, and for the love of God, Tom Hanks and his wife have it! Say it ain't so!
