Not a stretch to think this team will be 1-10 entering the Illinois State series.

This has been a pretty devastating failure of a season so far. Something will need to dramatically change. Foster Wonders isn’t good enough to change the program.

Having a team of freshmen and sophomores would matter more if every team in the conference was losing people next year. They’re not.

Pray that nobody leaves in the off-season. What a turn of events in just four weeks.

Yep, this. Going to get trounced again next year cause why would anything change? We beating drake next year? No. Loyola? No. It’s all bad.

Just stop

lost the only real true post player before the year even started. Now no Domask which if they had I believe they win all 3 games he has been out. Not to mention the best recruiting class in MVC next year. This year is what it is. We will be more than fine going forward

I'm excited about the recruiting class coming in but bringing in 3 Freshmen, maybe more, are we going to spend the next 2 years continuing to say the team is young?  Because they're gonna be young again next year with teams able to bring back players for another year.

It was weird that they didn’t go back to Jones after his 4th foul with about 5 minutes to go, especially when they had to play fast. Doghouse? There certainly weren’t other guys playing well, either.

Tough not to be discouraged with a lot of what we’ve seen lately, even knowing Domask is out and some reinforcements are on the way next year. Too much of the current roster has been very underwhelming. UNI is young and injured, too.

We’ll see what kind of effort SIU can muster tomorrow.

SIU will now be 2-11 in their last 13 Valley games.

Future might not be as bright as everyone thinks. Maybe we need to be realistic about the heights this program can actually achieve anymore.

I think most of us attribute the hope MORE to the Coach than the players.  I do agree though, it's a lot easier to accept losing when you love your coach, which I do.  That being said, after 2 years, his SIU teams will be less than .500 and after 4 years his record will be very similar to the last regime.

In reality, Domask is the only player on this team who doesn't have warts.  I still think the future is bright, but unfortunately, it's going to be at least 2 years before this team competes in the top of the Valley.   I guess we'll just have to be more patient.

BMs substitutions today questionable. Jones barely played. Never got back in after 4th foul. Need his energy on D and scoring. Like to see Davanzo and Filewich in there at the same time too.

KF and Harvey and Dembele need to work on FTs. 12 of 25! Ouch!

I think Long played some D...like to see him get more minutes.

I don’t look for Harvey to get Defensive Player of the Year.

I think that was a foregone conclusion long before this game. He seems to do OK for a bit, then it is like  he goes back to offense-only land just lets the others pick him up on defense. That being said, I am sure BM and staff is well aware of the problem. But Harvey's defense isn't the only leak in the boat.

Respectfully disagree about Long needing/deserving more minutes.

Then again, there aren’t many good options at the moment. They’re a tough watch without Domask.

I think Harvey can play some D. I think he doesn’t LIKE to play D. He's a pretty good offensive player and that's more fun than work!

Good D is just very hard work! Not many Tony Youngs around!

BM needs to work on him!

I wish people would step away from the edge.

This season is a write-off, and I am just  looking to the future, trying to find some bright spots. Today's bright spot was Filewich. There will probably be a different one tomorrow.

And you know what? Even if we were winning (and yes, I DO know it would be more fun to be winning), this season would have a gigantic asterisk next to anything accomplished.

So eff it: I'm just going to have fun watching any development that happens. 😊

(Inflammatory political snark)

I generally agree with the sentiment and there have been some bright spots, with, as you said, Filewich being one of them.

But there are also some legit questions to be answered going forward. How many of the current starters are starter-caliber on an MVC title/NCAA type team? And where are those guys going to come from, how long will it take to develop them, etc.? Open questions.

The lack of defensive coordination/intensity and sloppy free throws bother me more than anything.

And yes, the "youth" excuse, while valid, has limited shelf life. I'm still giving slack for the circumstantial weirdness of this season. But certain fundamentals need improvement, and fast. Excuses are only  good for so long.

March on triumphantly!

Listening to the post-game show..Filewich is out on the court practicing FTs right now! Gotta like that kid! He and Banks both had good games. Banks player of the game!

As Rodney said, not much talent difference between these two teams!

We haven’t hit those outside shots great for a good while. That's how we beat Butler. Maybe tomorrow!

Still think the future is very bright.. BM will get it done!! Go Dawgs!

Great post. I was about to post something very similar to this. I could be overly critical, and the deficiencies are well documented and have been obvious, even while we were winning, for anyone paying attention.

In my opinion, anyone getting too worked up over this teams woes are lost on perspective. Any play that comes out of this year is a bonus. Our time is coming.

I think we can thank my email to Doug Elgin to finally get rid of those damned captions. 😉

If you're gonna reply to me in the forums, please quote what I wrote that you're replying to so I have a clue...thanks! 😀

Wouldn't have minded the captions blocking the score in the 2nd half!
