Eight members of the basketball program will be honored pregame at approximately 6:40 p.m. including Marcus Domask, Lance Jones, Trent Brown, JD Muila, and Jawaun Newton. SIU managers Max Boston, Tim Caldwell, and Justin Endsley will be honored for their work off the court.
No Xavier Johnson listed unless that’s a mistake
I think best-case scenario at this point is Domask and Jones have not decided what they're doing next year. Could be wrong, but I don't think they would be participating if they were committed to returning (as shown in Drake example from last year earlier in this thread). And some who plan to return (like Leons on Bradley) have publicly stated their intentions.
I think this is the most likely case, that they just have not decided. Wonder when that question will be asked to them or Mullins.Eight members of the basketball program will be honored pregame at approximately 6:40 p.m. including Marcus Domask, Lance Jones, Trent Brown, JD Muila, and Jawaun Newton. Domask could return for personal goals, he will shatter Chico Vaughn’s scoring record if he comes back.
That’s a pretty sacred record, so I’m not sure how the university would handle that with Marcus having a 5th season.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.
As for Trent Brown, if he would like a career in coaching, I think he'd be a great candidate, and Mullins will definitely be firmly in his corner as he has gushed about him from day one.
I'm sure Trent has been as/more frustrated as a lot of us with the modest offensive production, but he has been a wonderful teammate and given great effort. And, he's had some nice moments on the floor as well, especially on the defensive end.
Wishing the entire senior class a great night tomorrow. They've all played their asses off for this program and I can't recall a single offcourt problem with any of them.
Amen, can't remember the last time I have felt this connected to a group of seniors. Great kids, outstanding effort, great ambassadors for the University and a great foundation to build this program on. When we are hanging banners the 3 of them will not be forgotten by me. Sad to see them go, if they do.As for Trent Brown, if he would like a career in coaching, I think he'd be a great candidate, and Mullins will definitely be firmly in his corner as he has gushed about him from day one.

If Marcus is back another year, he’ll play slightly more games than Kent Williams assuming he stays healthy (Kent scored 2,012 points in 130 games, Marcus has 1,551 in 102 games). Him missing most of his Sophomore year makes passing Kent Williams legitimate for me if he does it.
Chico did his 2,088 points in 85 games which blows everyone out of the water

Maybe this is naive, but if Marcus comes back, and it's an if, I think it would be more about his loyalty to teammates (I know he's close with Banks and others) and the coaches, and a desire to break through for the Salukis from a postseason standpoint, than it would be about individual records. He seems about as selfless and humble as they come. And if he opts to go pro or transfer "up" for a grad year, he's earned those options as well.
Sure has, if they don't win the MVCT I think the odds of them coming back goes up. If they happen to do that, I think they will leave for sure, might anyway.Domask could return for personal goals, he will shatter Chico Vaughn’s scoring record if he comes back.

The points scored records would look different if the 3 pointer had been around when Mike Glenn played. He was the purest shooter I have ever seen.Domask could return for personal goals, he will shatter Chico Vaughn’s scoring record if he comes back.

without question
@jaymay I agree, and even more unfair to the players who were not allowed to play their freshman - as back in the 50-60's
It's crazy to me that these players can come back. A little part of me wants to see some turnover on the roster and get some fresh blood in the program. If Domask gets another season he will easily be the all time leading scorer. Which is unfair to the others that only had 4 years on the court.
If Domask isn't back next year, SIU will very likely be a bottom 4 team in the Valley. I'm really dreading the day that Domask is no longer a Saluki. I hope it's after next year. Domask has masked (no pun intended) a lot of problems with the Salukis over the past 4 years.
Disagree on bottom 4; we have too much quality frontcourt depth to fall *that* far. Middle of the pack (5-8) is much more likely.

I expect Evansville, Valpo, and UIC to still be in rebuild mode but I think everyone else in the conference is either going to continue to be good or take a step up. This was the worst year we've seen in the Valley in a long time top to bottom and I think it'll only improve from here.
I try to call out betting lines that don't make sense. Northern Iowa dominated us last month in the middle of SIU's 12-1 stretch. Since then SIU is 3-4 with a couple of double digit losses and a bad loss to ISU. Yet with all this, SIU is a 6pt favorite??? I call this a DIRTY line !!!!!

UNI had lost six in a row before beating Missouri State the other day. It's in Carbondale. SIU still should be plenty motivated. Line makes sense to me.
