The path to SIU making the dance again is a bit more involved; there are several steps involved starting with:

  1. Fire Barry Hinson
  • Do it this week. Monday works for me, I’ll accept Tuesday too. Even Friday morning would be ok. The sooner we complete this absolute critical key step the sooner we are on the path to recovery from chronic mediocrity.
  • Let one or all the current assistant coaches be the head coach for the last game or two or even 4 games should this move inspire everyone to a higher level of play.
  1. Hire the best coach out there.
  • No, I don’t know who that is, that is what we pay big sums of money to have an AD.
  • Also, I don’t think we have to just go after some former great player and alumni. Cast the net wide.
  1. When they post the opening for the new head coach – start by announcing the new starting salary will be a 35%, 50% or more increase over the salary of the most recently fired BBQ sauce salesman.
  • This will certainly help with improving the selection pool to fulfill step 2 above. And might make the message we won’t accept gross chronic mediocrity ring a little truer (we won’t settle for BBQ sauce salesmen any longer. And we won’t take advice from the MVC office).
  1. Fire the current AD
  • The sooner we complete this equally absolute critical step the sooner we are on the path to recovery from chronic mediocrity
  • Also, we establish some credibility and integrity in this important position.

There are more and when I’m feeling a little better later in the week I might come back to this.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

I started this on Sunday but never posted it...still relevant but unfortunately SIU has missed taking the first key step early.  Maybe tomorrow morning.

Go Dawgs!
