Didn't shaka smart take VCU to a final four as an 11 seed, and stay for like four years after that? I like porter but shaka is probably twice the coach he is.

The best example that fits Moser is Jim Larranaga after George Mason's Final Four run.  Larranaga was a little more accomplished than Moser before the Final Four run but he wasn't a hot name until that point.  After the George Mason Final Four, Larranaga took an extension from the school and stayed there for 5 more seasons before taking the Miami job.

For Porter to leave doesn't a bigger job need to open up?   Depaul may open but I am not sure he would want that job unless it pays  a ton more.  A much tougher job than he currently has   🤔

DePaul has very deep pockets and could easily triple Moser's salary at Loyola.  However, DePaul isn't close to being relevant and most likely turns into a 3 year gig for someone that's gonna get canned following year 3.  I also heard on the radio yesterday that DePaul has confirmed the NCAA is investigating their athletic program.  Outside of woman's basketball and occasionally softball, I don't think they do anything well.

Quote from a recent porter interview. Doesn't sound like a guy who's looking to jump.

“A good coaching friend who has stayed at a school at this level said, ‘Don’t run from happiness.’ And I’m happy. I am. I hope all this moves in the right direction for my family and me. But I’m happy. We spent so much time investing, and I do believe in this.”

Their AD publicly came out saying she doesn't care how well the men's sports especially men's basketball does. Highly doubt Porter wants to go to DePaul to be mediocre and then canned.

If that's the case, DePaul really has no business being in the Big East.....but I'm okay with them remaining irrelevant too.

They are there because of their media market and the fact 8 teams can't dance from their conference unless a few teams lose to everyone.  I'm sure they enjoy the NCAA money from the other teams winning.

You are correct, but what's the cost of remaining irrelevant with no chance of making post season play??  Surprised they brought Dave Leitto (spelling?) back after an unsuccessful first stint.  It really smacks of "I don't really care. We can't compete anyway and we'll get this guy for the right price."

The logic is they make a lot of money for being "designated losers".  They should pay less to their coach though is post season play is out of the question.
