I think Kennard's defense is good enough right now to get him at least 12 minutes a night.  I really don't get why he didn't get in at the end.  Would have been nice to see him get a basket to boost his confidence a bit on the offensive end in garbage time.

You know it was a good night when that's my only complaint.

from where I was sitting and looking at Davis late with a towel around his shoulders and talking to the medical staff he appeared to not be feeling well but that is purely speculation on my part also is there an update about the young man from Queens who was injured on a hustle play in the 2nd half and went straight to the locker room

I saw that from Davis on the bench also. Didn't appear to be favoring anything so maybe just fatigue, cramps or he's sick. Just pure speculation, but he was standing and talking to the trainer. I didn't think the game was too fast for him when he played. He is already a plus defender. His offense will come. He's going to be a good one!

Doesn’t Stulic have another year left? He only played in 4 games last year which suggests a redshirt.

Yes he has 2 years left according to this:

I know the competition hasn't been top notch thru 2 gamed but I have already seen improvement from game 1 to game 2 also it seems this team is a little more athletic than past teams also there seems to be more depth defense needs to be better without fouling rebounding seems better but the offensive flow and ball movement and uptempo push to get easy shots in the shot clock is a pleasant surprise also love the intensity I think this team will improve weekly and be a major force in the Valley come February

Agree that we have definitely improved from KSU. Queens is better than KSU (not much) and we crushed them. Every guy that played last year looks improved, including Rupert and Ebube. The offensive style has been far different than last year's stand-around-and-watch-Marcus-or-Lance score.

Still want to see how we do against real competition like James Madison/NM State, etc. but this team should improve a lot by January.

Noticed the same thing with Davis. Something was wrong with him and I'm assuming that's why he didn't get more PT late.

With the next game 6 days away maybe he will get over whatever was bothering him. If he has to be out the next game Chicago State would be a good game to miss as we will be pretty heavy favorites. Hope it's not too serious, we are already very thin with the current injuries ands ineligibility.

We were worried about our scoring, but it looks like we have quite a few scoring options. X, Ferguson, Rupert, Ebube and Stulic all look like they will be able to score. I think we have a lot more guys that can get their own shot or drive to the basket than we have had in the past.

This. Plus D'Amico and Brown, and Davis hasn't even taken a shot yet in a Saluki game (that I recall).

What I really like about this team is the balanced scoring. That and improved rebounding. If they can keep playing Floorburn D and the balanced offense, should be a fun team to watch this year.

March on triumphantly!

Just a clarification, @kyle_saluki_17

The 4-game redshirt rule only applies for football. In basketball, if you play one minute, you've blown your redshirt.

I think they are counting on a medical redshirt. He can't apply until his eligibility is up. Usually the rule is if you have a season ending injury and play less than 30% of the seasons games you are eligible. However, this is the NCAA, so all bets are off!!!

@obd yes I was referring to medical redshirt. Should’ve put that on the post.

It's very early on in the season, and we haven't exactly played any all-star teams yet, but so far at least the offense is looking like i kind of suspected it might. Nothing against Domask and Jones, they were only doing what the coaching staff was telling them to do I'm sure, but this team was boring as hell to watch the last 4 years. All we had was the "everyone stand around and watch Domask and Jones" offense. I kind of suspected after they were gone, that the other guys would have a better flow to the offense and wouldn't all just stand around looking at each other being afraid to shoot. So far at least, the level of ball sharing, motion, and overall energy on our offensive side is much improved over that old Marcus and Lance show of the last four years. Again, it might all be simply the level of competition we have played to this point, but I'm hoping this more up-tempo, ball sharing, everyone is more involved type of offense is what we can expect all year. Fingers crossed.

Was not able to watch last night so watching the replay.

I must say, I am enjoying the heck out of this team.  Way more fun than previous years.  Looking forward to this season.

Saluki basketball is exciting to watch again.  Thrilled about that.

Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

I’m impressed through 2 games, especially with the team not playing together throughout the fall due to injuries.  There easily could have been excuses so far for poor play.  Still need to see how they play in the tougher games ahead but this season doesn’t look like it’s headed for a worst case scenario which is a good thing!

Still a little iffy about the future with Xavier being in his last year.  They’re going to have to nail the portal this offseason or hit on a late HS bloomer.

I must say that I am delighted to read all of the positive posts on this seasons edition of Saluki basketball. As I stated a month ago, this team is going to surprise many of the naysayers. Mr. Hensley was going to be a big piece to the puzzle, and I am saddened that he, along with others will not be available. With this being said, we are truly witnessing the possibilities of what this team can/will become.

Keep the faith y'all.

GO DAWGS!!!

I actually think having 3 guys out might be a good thing for Mullins because he's being forced to stick with players even through struggles.
