I actually think having 3 guys out might be a good thing for Mullins because he's being forced to stick with players even through struggles.

As someone who’s been fairly critical of Mullins’ personnel handling in the past, I like what he’s doing early this year with his lineups. And yeah, only having 10 available simplifies things a bit.

Like many on here, I have very much enjoyed the new style of basketball being played this year.  Been a long time.  It is early, of course, but I hope it proves successful.  I suspect it is a more fun and enjoyable style for the players and, one would hope, it will result in more success during this spring's signing period.

Just finished watching the game via replay as I was on the Detroit River Fri & Sat fishing for (and catching) walleyes.  If you haven't headed there for the fall run, I highly recommend it.  But we're here for the basketball so, here are my thoughts.

As many have said, the competition hasn't been top notch, but I believe this is what the team needed due to the circumstances.  I've said multiple times that Ebube might be the key to our season.  He is still a bit raw but you simply cannot dismiss his power and athleticism.  He also has really impressed with this ability to catch the ball in traffic and take the shot without bringing the ball below his chest/waist.

I also have noticed a sping in D'Amico's step.  My biggest concern with him has always been his lack of speed, but so far, even despite coming off the injury, he seems to be quicker.  That bodes well.

Absolutely love Brown being able to contribute.  He has ALWAYS been a likeable player, but it's so much better to be likeable AND score some meaningful baskets.

Stulic is another shooter we have needed AND he can play defense.

Rupert looks to be improved and hasn't lost an ounce of energy.

As most thought prior to the season, the improved depth has been a positive so far.

I thought this would be a much closer game so, regardless of the competition, it was a good win and the metrics agree as SIU moved up 29 spots in Kenpom from 189 to 160.  Chicago St should be another comfortable win and the REAL test will be against James Madison.  I watched them again tonight and they like to get up and down, have inside presence, length, etc.

So far, so good.  Let's keep it going.
