It seems any post on mvc fans is spamed with Bradley people, down playing Mullins and siu in general. Is there an older fan rivalry I'm just not aware of ?

There's a general arrogance when it comes to Bradley fans. Ā There's a lot of bashing when it comes to other schools in The Valley and particularly SIU. Ā I love beating Bradley. Ā Their spewing of garbage towards SIU, Mullins, etc, only fuels the rivalry. Ā At the end of the day, I like Mullins & Companies chances at pushing SIU to the top of the MVC once again....and putting Bradley in it's place.
I also didn't realize that Bradley voted to keep SIU out of the MVC back in the day. Ā Good thing other schools at the time, voted us in. Ā Yet another reason to dislike the Braves.

This was bound to be an interesting topic.
I held back on my initial reaction to respond and several of the reasons to despise BU fans have been covered. I know quite a few BU grad/fans and an SIU grad who attended BU for two years. I also attend the SIU/BU game nearly every year. While they are passionate about their hoops, they are condescending a-holes for the most part.
A lot has to do with the fact that many Peorians attend BU, so there is some real homerism there. BU also recruits heavily and get quite a few east coasters to attend in order to get a Midwest "experience." I know many of this BU type who actually now live in the Midwest. When discussing BU, they frequently recite the line: "It's the Harvard of the Midwest." This is when I usually spit my beer out in laughter, sometimes getting it on them. The sad part is, they really believe it. I also have an EIU grad friend who says the same thing, he believes it too.

It has a lot to do with it being a private school. They have to find a way to feel good about not getting into a "better" private school, so they look down their noses at us lowly poor folk. Creighton fans were the same way, but I hasten to add there were a few good ones who used to visit Saluki Talk.
I'm not sure we've ever had a Bradley fan here like that though, and I'm usually the first to scoff at writing off an entire fan base. š
