The four incoming are true frosh Banks(G), Butler(G), Filewich(C/F) and sophomore Verplancken(G).
I know Verplancken was granted a waiver but you would have to think, making the jump from D2, he would still be an option for redshirting.
Banks and Butler is a tougher call. I am not sure which of the two are higher rated or more ready but they have a lot of guards on the roster.
Filewich is another interesting case. SIU is much more shallow in the front court. Muila is more of a defensive option and will take time to acclimate to D1 coming from a JUCO. Dembele got limited minutes last year and has had injury issues. D'Avanzo is coming from D2 and more of a SF.
So all things considered will any of these or none redshirt?
None.
None...may have Covid shortages.
Agree: None.
I'm afraid Dembele is not going to see the floor ever again; he seems to have a Thik Bol kind of injury, or at best an Ibby Djimde-type injury, with VERY limited ability. Sad.
(Inflammatory political snark)
I agree, I think Filewich will need to be ready play on day one.
This season does not count against anyone's eligibility. So none. There is no advantage to redshirting anyone.

Agreed. Any redshirt would not only disadvantage the player, but the team as well.
