Added Preferred Walk-on Dave Swedura to above roster--also still have hope that a Preferred Walk-On Big will be added--in the 6'11" range

Looks like a nice roster, wish we had a tougher schedule to see how good this team can be

I don't know if we will be better, but at least we are getting taller.  No more runnin' midgets.

I'm going to say it again... if this group stays healthy and eligible, we are looking at a solid season, and the best shot at NIT or NCAA in many years.  Way too much negativity this past year when you consider the team did finish second in the Valley and considering the injuries they had.  Throw in a decent recruiting class... let's go

Cook, Lloyd, Fletch, Bol and Pippen. I think Bartley might be the 6th man.

I Think McGill may be the sixth man-- But you're right, what do you do with Bartley. He has yet to live up to his hype IMO--maybe start the two seniors Lloyd and Bartley but give equal time to Cook, McGill and some time to J. Beane/ Gooch. It may be Cook, McGill and J. Beane (if he performs well and is here) in 2019-20 as starters. D. Beane will be there in 2019-20 as heavy minute contributor.

The big "get"  in next year's (2019) class has to be a Transfer impact (JUCO or D-1) Big--even if Amadou Fall progresses and shows he can help for 2019-20

Amadou has to be a redshirt this season.  If he's getting playing time, something went seriously wrong (i.e. injuries).  He has to bulk up and use this season to improve his low post skills against Bol and Pippen.  As far as the 5 starters.  Start the five best players....period.  I personally don't see Cook coming off the bench.  I think he's one of the 5 best on this team.  Bartley has shown flashes, but not consistently.  McGill has some athleticism, but either of those guys could be a 6th man.  It would be entertaining to get both Bol and Pippen on the floor at the same time in certain scenarios.....but the little huckster doesn't really know what to do with 2 low post guys on the floor at the same time.

I agree with a lot of what you said but, on Bol and Pippen playing together, what might happen is they both start but then alternate resting during games with Rudy subbing to give either a blow--they may end up playing 13 minutes total each but even if Bol is able to handle the 4 spot with Pippen at the 5 (together), they may not play their minutes together because we have to have at least one rim protector in the line-up at all times.

We should have a very deep team this year. We could have 10 legit players this year. When was the last time we had more than 6 or 7? I have alot of faith in both Beane's, Gooch and Mcgill to go along with the 6 I had mentioned before.

As for the big JUCO pickup for next year I still have my eye in Jalen Shaw who is going to Triton CC. I hope he can get his grades in order and become NCAA eligible. I think this kid could be a beast in the MVC!

I think you are right in your starting line up.  I believe Bol and Pippen both start.  Then sub out either Bol or Pippen in the first 2-3 minutes with Bartley and roll Fletcher or Lloyd to the 4.  Then alternate the two bigs through the rest of the game.  If you worry about equal minutes for Bol and Pippen just reverse the sub out at the start of the 2nd half.  I also think there should be 4 redshirts on this roster, Rudy, Fall, Shafer, and the walk-on Swedura.  By redshirting Rudy, we will have an experienced big on the squad for 19-20.  Fletcher and Lloyd have both been productive in the 4 spot.  Gooch has also demonstrated he can hold his ground at the 4.  J. Beane is a 2-3-4 spot player and could add some minutes at the 4 too.  A Fall redshirt is obvious.  A redshirt for Shafer would allow him to bulk up.  Swedura isn't going to get any minutes anyway, so allow him to retain 4 years of eligibility after this year.

Starters:

Cook, Fletcher, Lloyd, Bol, and Pippen

First off the Bench:

Bartley  (good candidate for the MVC 6th Man of the Year Award)

Remaining Bench (not in playing order)

Gooch, McGill, D. Beane, J. Beane

I think your idea of red shirting Rudy is a good idea if he would be ok with it. Could def help the 19-20 team and isn't going to get much playing time this year barring injury.

Oh I'm not sleeping on either Beane! I just think the upperclassmen will start at least to begin the year and you know Barry's partial to Bartley.

Rudy will not redshirt, his size will be needed and a senior just doesn’t redshirt. I have never heard of a redshirt walk - on.
