I am hoping that Cade Hornecker earns an urban dictionary listing along the lines that Kevin Pittsnogle achieved while playing at West Virginia in 2005.
Instead of the term "Pittsnogled" opponents can claim they were "Horneckered" in their loss to the Salukis!
For you young guys on the board:

Its hard to watch but the Salukis make an appearance at the 5:44 mark in the 2006 WVU recruiting video linked below. Bryan Mullins makes a cameo at the 5:44 and the 6:04 mark.
Cade is going to be such a good player for us. I don't think we have the slightest grasp yet on everything he will bring to the table.

Yeah, hard to take much away, but appreciate the pix. Agree with above comments.
They all look good and fit, Rupert looks menacing.
March on triumphantly!

Dalton has done a nice job hitting the weights but I think I'd rather see him hit a few jumpshots. Hopefully he is also making progress in that area. 😀

I almost said the same thing when I read that comment. His defense or lack of strength didn't seem to be a perceived weakness. I'm sure he's worked very hard on his jump shot in the offseason, the key will be, will it pay off.
Thought Dalton's offensive game and jump shot was pretty impressive in his Freshman season and then everything seemed to take a giant step back last year. He was 32-54 from 2 (59.3% and 8th in the MVC) during conference games last year. He seemed to be getting blocked at the rim a bunch early in the season but that seemed to improve as the season went on. Unfortunately, he never got his jump shot going as he was 4-23 from 3 in conference play and 7-41 from 3 overall.

Menacing, ha! Add Ebube to that list also.

Jones and Domask will be Jones and Domask but the rest of the team is...questionable.
• Xavier Johnson is likely the guaranteed starter at PG but he doesn't seem like much or an upgrade on Banks. And will Banks be OK with being second fiddle after playing well down the stretch last season?
• Really need some of the young bigs to step up. I have high hopes for Ebube but if he was ready to contribute you would think he wouldn't have redshirt last year when SIU's frontcourt was dreadful in about every aspect. Hornecker and Rupert really need to step up and D'Amico needs to make the 4 spot his. Domask is much more suited to the 3. Muila should be a 2 to 4 minute a game guy spelling the young players. If Domask is forced to play the 4 and Muila starts or gets starter minutes this team is in trouble.
• Will Wonders adapt to the speed of D1, especially defensively, enough for his offensive ability to contribute?
• Will Brown be able to provide the quality depth at two separate positions(PG and SG) that he will almost certainly be required to?
• AJ Ferguson wasn't anything special at his D2. Will he be able to contribute or should he redshirt?
It's hard to say what even the best lineup is for this team. In my head I think it could be Banks/Jones/Domask/D'Amico/Rupert at least to start.
Won't be surprised if Rupert is a starter. He was impressive against Purdue in the NCAA.
I have to believe that Xavier will start. He wouldn't be here otherwise. Then probably Domask, Jones, D'amico or Rupert and Muila to begin with but Ebube by conference season. Banks and Wonders will see a lot of time I believe. Trent will get minutes because he is the one guy we know can play consistently tough D. By February Cade will probably be getting solid minutes as well. After that , who is to say. Who will get the most minutes though is a completely different question.
One thing I have learned thru the years is at this time of year expectations are great but as practice and gamed start what we think we know and what we do know are quite different I am one while excited for the upcoming season I do know situations change daily as well during games and what we thought should happen probably won't I am hoping for a successful season that ends with a post season birth of any kind steps towards being feared again and I really don't care who starts who is the rotations as long as we are successful thanks for reading GO DAWGS

I totally agree. And this time of year fans guess at starting lineups, but it's sometimes based on players they like or they dislike. Every single player on this SIU team is a quality young man, otherwise they wouldn't be on the team (this is something Mullins insists upon). We don't see what's going on in practices and scrimmages. Also, it almost doesn't matter who starts, this team is so deep, different players will get more meaningful, end of game, minutes in different games based on matchups, the flow of the game, etc.

I'd be very surprised if Jawaun Newton doesn't start. He is a veteran scorer that can also play defense. I think both he and Johnson start. I would guess we start out with Johnson, Jones, Newton, Domask & Muila. Johnson's 4.6 dimes per game last year would look pretty awesome in the mvc this year if he can repeat those numbers. It's a small lineup, but a veteran lineup with both scorers and defenders. I think Rupert might be quick off the bench at the 5. I also think D'Amico might be quick off the bench and play the 4. I expect Domask to play both the 3 & 4 positions every game with the amount at each spot depending upon the matchups.
