Well, Coach Mullins can mend. Wow wow wow. What a strange year!
As far as Verplancken, I like his game. Plays with more heart for the game than any player that I have seen for years. Like Jeff Early or Stetson Hairston with very intimidating presence as a guard. Strong presence for a guard and not afraid to dribble drive in amongst the bigs! Jones is unintimidated as well. Our guards are gonna be a force this year.
But if our bigs can keep up the pace like Barret did last year, we will be a team to reckon with!

Agreed, and I think I see our starting five based off the maroon jerseys at the beginning:
Domask, Jones, Harvey, DAvanzo, and Brown
Lots of skill, but looks like we will have trouble defending the rim.

Definitely a concern with Muila's injury.
Kind of a scary thing to say, but getting 10-20 minutes of solid interior defense from Dembele might be one of the keys to the season. Not sure Southern has anyone else who could be characterized as a rim protector in the paint, although granted I haven't seen D'Avanzo or Filewich in action.
Dembele was playing; hope he is healthy this year we will need him
Looked great seeing the team in action!!
The maroon team looked like it was the Saluki veterans plus D'Avanzo against the newcomers plus Keller in white. Not convinced the maroon team in this scrimmage will be the projected starters though.
Maroon:
Domask, Jones, Harvey, Brown, D'Avanzo, with Dembele off the bench.
White:
Banks, Butler, Verplancken, Long, Filewich, with Keller and Cross off the bench.
Little bit from Brendan Mullins with Reis here. Said Dalton Banks might have been the best guard on the floor in the scrimmage:
I really hate that weird dot pattern thing on the side of the unis.

It was a nice listen indeed. Banks was ridiculously fast, including with the dribble, in high school and has the potential to be a good PG in the MVC. My concern with Banks, at this early stage in his career, is he struggled with his shot, both outside and FT's last year. That being said, Mullins struggled with outside shooting his Fr year as well and look how he turned out !!!!
I took a LOT of good things from the video, despite knowing it was all highlights. I liked Filewich's scoring down low & his enthusiasm (asking for the added FT on Banks drive). Marcus looked like he was back on track after struggling at the end of last season. Banks looked FAST. Verplancken looked like he had some length. D'Avanzo hit an outside and inside shot.
What I know is I am SUPER excited about Wednesday !!!!!!!!!!!!
