This may not happen BUT I will be a happy person if it does along with all Saluki fans
I think this team wins 20 games as long as everyone remains healthy. 20 should be the goal, but its not this groups ceiling.
Honestly, I think SIU will struggle some in OOC, and probably in a couple games they shouldn't. When conference play rolls around, I think they surprise in a very strong MVC to the tune of a 12-6 or 13-5 clip and will start playing their best basketball mid-to-late January; finishing the season with a flurry. Hopefully that momentum carries over into Arch Madness and they play themselves into a legitimate shot at an auto-bid.

Tulsa was 9-12 and 134th in NET last year. San Francisco was 11-14, 105th, and finished 8th in the WCC.
Not saying SIU will win these but can we stop trying to pretend these are good programs?
For reference purposes only, SIU finished 214.
Based on the exhibition game (We won the first half, got outscored the second) I'd say we're looking at 15-15.

@carrcar exhibition games are for seeing what you have try out rotations not to mention getting newcomers playing experience at this level I am sure the regular season would have been different I can see where this team can get at least 20 wins if they protect the home court and everyone stays healthy

They had 2 potential starters out in Coupet and Brown and weren't using regular rotations. I wouldn't read much into the exhibition.

Yea it is a bit odd to look into that too much. Regular season has Domask playing 38+ minutes and other main ones playing a lot more. And yes as Salukiworld points out, we were down 2 starters.
With the depth on this team, I cannot see Domask playing 38 minutes per game. I would GUESS that his minutes are closer t0 32 minutes/game. If he's averaging 30-32 minutes, that means the rest of the team is playing well, which means they're likely winning.
Yeah if Domask is playing 38 minutes again, this team has real problems. Given how careful they were with Domask last year after he got hurt, I'm guessing they're going to be careful this year with his minutes.

It isn't about HAVING to play him 38 minutes a game. It's about playing your best players. Sure I get it. He had the stress fracture. People are concerned about him not being in the shape to last a whole season. I understand the argument. But when it comes down to it, you're going to play your best players to win. He is our best. His minutes may drop a little bit, but I doubt much.
I'm also curious about whether they're planning to try to keep Domask's minutes to closer to 30-32 a night this year, given what happened last year, and/or give him occasional breathers in practice. Hopefully Mullins is asked about it at some point. It was encouraging to hear Marcus sound upbeat about his health in the interview this week. Looking forward to hopefully seeing him play at an all-conference level this year.
While the injury is something to consider, I have no concerns about it. My thoughts on his decrease in minutes is to keep everyone fresh so the defense can go full bore while on the court and the get replaced by fresh legs. Domask is going into the season as our unanimous best player, but Jones is close and perhaps even Coupet (?) or another player might step up so much that they will not need him to play the entire game, which 38 minutes basically is.

Overall or just conference? Either way, perhaps adding a little context to your number would help.
