One thing I've been noticing also is that these kids are disciplined. Free throws are 100% improved; you can tell that they work at it. Reminds me of Starrick back in the day; when he went to the line, he was like a machine; focused, same exact mechanics. I see that in this group. They have a lot of talent & have been taught well. I believe BM saw that in them when recruiting. I am very excited about the growth of this team in just a few months. Granted, the last two games were not against powerhouses but the freshmen are growing exponentially. I am thrilled. I can't wait to see this class beat up some top tier teams in the valley.
Didn't we see both of those guys on the floor during the Hampton game?

Is Gooch in the doghouse? He just made his first appearance in the game with less than 4 minutes remaining.
I don’t know if it’s so much the doghouse as it is Sekou and Davis have passed him up.
I agree. Gooch had a chance and I believe these guys are just a better choice to be on the court at this time.
Thanks for the input! It makes total sense! 😀

A casual observation: I am often mystified/amazed by the consistency and accuracy of the professionals who predict the lines of the games. SEMO was a 10 point underdog coming into this game, SIU covered by almost 2x. As I recall we were 14 point favorites going up against Hampton, and we won by 22, so roughly 1.5 coverage. Realizing that neither of those teams are setting the world on fire, I cannot help but interpret the tea leaves as saying that there are intangibles at play, namely the guys who have been injured and out of the picture starting to yield fruit. Also, Karrington Davis has a high ceiling, IMHO.

Mid and lower b-ball early is tough for Vegas. I play a lot of NFL/NCAA and they are spot on a soul crushing amount of the time. Especially NFL....
I think these non-conference games are much harder to set odds for as well compared to when we get into conference play and there's more of a sample size for how good teams are against one another.
I will say one thing about this team; they certainly win the games they're supposed to win. That's a testament to the hard work and preparation being put into each and every game. That's especially rare with a team that has so much youth comprising its backbone. It has been great to watch.
Another thing; Davis will be in the starting lineup sooner rather than later. That kid can ball.

I believe that the newcomers Davis, Francois, Dembele, Domask, Lance and even Brown have improved considerably every game and along with our senior guards and Benson are ready for a Valley schedule. Speaking of schedules, I remember one of our posters blathering on about our "Garbage" schedule. I then saw before the Hampton game via a reputable site that we have played the toughest rated non conference schedule in the MVC. Once again I will say that Mullins totally knows what he is doing. In an amazing short time he has put together a decent team that is getting better and he did it with hard work and stuck to his process. I am still hoping to get 6 Valley home wins and wouldn't our first road win against the Trees be so sweet.
