@siu_2011 he’s our best option at that position. Idk you tell anyone why he’s still in.
What are we doing in the final 5 minutes not getting into sets until there is about 12 seconds left? I can’t even begin to understand what was going on offensively. My mind is blown with the ineptitude. How many shot clock violations did we have? How many unforced turn overs do we commit?
Three shot clock violations, and at least three other times where it was a heave at the bucket just to avoid another one.
Loyola 60
SIU 52
Verplancken the leading scorer with 17 and also the leading rebounder with 8.

And on just SIX shots. A perfect 6-6 from the field, including 5-5 from the arc.

Verplancken having this kind of game against Loyola should remove any doubt about him being worthy of a roster spot as some were doubting earlier this season
Remember when we all thought Loyola joining the conference was a huge gaffe?
What a tough team. Loyola can grind out wins just based on their defense. I have a tough time imagining when we’ll be able to compete with the top of the conference. Maybe in 3 years. What a massive gap in talent.

Great effort, though. That’s what matters. Wins will come, eventually. Probably in three years, but eventually.

Porter Moser is a good coach I don't care what anyone says

Loyola's gutting out wins like this is so reminiscent of what Floorburn U. did for the Dawgs in the glory years. Those games were always such a struggle for SIU to score points consistently, but their D just clamped down game after game, just like what the Ramblers are doing now.
@thunnellvision that’s a typical length of a program build in college basketball. Suggesting otherwise is just impatient really. Drake is an outlier when it comes to itS if they weren’t playing well this year not one person would care that an early year in a rebuild didn’t work out.

In this era of rampant transfers, no, you don’t need five years to contend.

Absolutely! Ask Bryan Mullins. Terrific defense.
Great half for Verplancken. Bryan unhappy with the 18 TOs, lazy passes, sloppy dribbles, but happy with the effort.

You really are a borderline troll. I know you still wish Lowery was the coach dogpoop, but he's not. He's the assistant on a very bad K State team. Anyway, credit Loyola's defense, it is outstanding. If Filewich makes those shots he almost always makes (60% for the year until lately) this game goes down to the wire. We played #21 on the road tough without our best player and leading scorer.
Verplancken was outstanding in this game. He let the game come to him and is now a + defender in my estimation. I am getting more optimistic about the future.
We were lucky to score 50,but Loyola is not number 1 in the nation in defense for nothing. If our offense can ever catch up to our defense look out.
Hopefully Kyler can relax a bit more tomorrow. Obviously the Krutwig comparison didn't go in his favor tonite.

Of the top 4 teams in the Valley right now, 2 of them have coaches in their 3rd season.
