Mike: Trent Brown has really made significant progress from last year!

Filewich!!!! I started the season calling him Clownshoes. Now I'm getting big on him!
Anyone else see a mini-Krutwig in him?
Funny you should say that. I was just thinking that this kid is not playing like a freshman. He may not be quite as good as Krutwig, but I don't think we have had a young post player with this much upside in a long time...and yeah, I am seeing a mini-Krutwig.
I'm not generally a troller of other fans' message boards, but the Butler board deserves some trolling. Pregame talk was all about how we were "pretty good" for a few years, and how this game would be good for a lowly school/conference like ours. OK, sure: you guys have definitely come up in the world, and we have fallen down, and things do change. But come on:
You guys were in the effing HORIZON LEAGUE when we played you in the last meaningful games! Quit acting as though you're freaking UCLA in the '60s.
(Inflammatory political snark)
Have to love this team as they hard nosed and gritty just like their coach when he played. Have to love how they pick up each other and don't worry about who gets the credit. Coach Mullins is building a team in his image compromise a little on talent but no compromise on character and toughness and everyone is buying in GO DAWGS
You want yet ANOTHER example of how Mullins has changed the culture here? Follow Barret Benson (last year's big man at SIU) on Twitter. He watches the games, comments on the team, supports them and genuinely gets excited by their success. A former player who only played one season there and yet he is a huge advocate for the program. Man is the future bright and, heck, so is the present.
Filewich only had 2 points but he got some key RBs and had a nice block while playing some good D in what I want to say will be his most minute so far.
Brown and Domask were great but Filewich was seriously the unsung hero in the first half. So many huge minutes, especially on the defensive end.
He also had the most awkward spin move I have ever seen late in the game lol. Like, he basically had a straight line to the hoop after but was so shocked that move worked he just passed it off.
I’ll bet he can outskate you.

Marcus Domask postgame:
What a game. Felt like running through a brick wall at the end. Let’s gooooooooooo.
Just OMG .... watched the entire game .... This team is the real deal. Thank you Mullins Family.
We are again significant.
Thank you players; There is no quit in you. Floorburn U is back ....
Sensational win. Big moments and big wins have been close to non-existent for over a decade, so we should all soak this one in.
Domask is just a stud. The TV crew had him pegged pretty well in terms of how fluid and fundamentally sound he is - so impressive. Brown is like a whole new player at the offensive end this year, much to his credit ... what a performance by him tonight. Jones made some big-time plays ... with Lance, you have to take the good with the bad at times, but the pluses far outweigh the minuses. Strong bench contributions from the freshmen. There were definitely some lessons to take from those last 10-12 minutes ... a handful of poor possessions and decisions, but that's the luxury you have with a dynamite first half and big cushion.
I don't know if Southern wins if Butler's senior guard was available, but the Bulldogs still have some good young talent, and the Salukis took it to them and had them completely off-kilter in the first half.
Congrats to the whole program on a much-deserved big moment and affirmation that Saluki basketball is back to being a threat to beat good programs and win big games.

Here's hoping Bryan Mullins becomes our Brad Stevens. With a name like that, Mullins would be a good fit to coach the Celtics in another decade. 😀
Rough 2nd half that turned into a nail biter. Glad we got the win in spite of the refs trying to exert their will on this game.
F### AJ Graves and go Dawgs it's going to be a fun year!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. I don't think I've ever complained about officiating on this site....ever. But the refs certainly tried their best to keep Butler in the game and keep their home winning streak alive. They got away with multiple travels, fouls, etc. in the final minutes. This game should never have been that close. We dominated them on their home court. Great win.
