Strange game. We play absolutely horrible in the 1st half. We played one of our best halves of the year in the second half. I haven't seen us hustle like that and play hard nosed defense that well this year. Fletcher looked better than ever. Too little to late but encouraged by the talent on this team if they can be motivated to play consistently they could be a force in the Valley. No way McGill comes out of the starting line up. He has played his butt off and deserves it. Beane is coming on strong, deserves more minutes. Bartley looks to be odd man out and should lose minutes. We desperately need Bol back to spell Pippen, Rudy just can't fill that gap. Valley wide open.

Emminecker does a really good job as a color guy on TV. He is significantly better than Trude is on our broadcasts.
I thought both broadcasters did a good job. They didn't seem like over the top homers, which is nice.
Emmenecker played for Drake and is very good behind the mic. I think the MVC is using him for TV as well.

Between SIU and Drake, my take is that our players are better and our team is better, but their coaching is far superior. I think we lose at least twice to this team.

Correction: Whitlock didn't get all the carries! 😀
However, late in the game, if I remember correctly, Whitlock was getting the carries and everyone around us was questioning why we weren't just sticking with Jacobs.
Real problem was we couldn't stop Payton award winning QB Erik Meyer (31 - 44 for 437 yds) or their speedy receiver Eric Kimble (195 yards receiving). EWU had almost 600 yds offense.
EWU lost the next week to Sam Houston State.
Sambursky didn't have one of his better games.
When I look at that roster, I realize how far we've fallen talent-wise: Sambursky, Jacobs, Whitlock, Craig Turner, Brent Little, Alexis Moreland (Hall of Fame), Royal Whitaker, Billy Beard.
No doubt the talent level has went down. EWU had a great passing attack, they were fun to watch. Maybe Kill will take over over Hill, and Hill can coach the basketball team. Can't hurt.
