A good season is to compete and keep our heads above water. If that’s not happening, that’s when people should be concerned. This wasn’t a great start.
It was the start of MVC play but there were five games before tonight, including a pretty strong showing in Cancun. I’m concerned myself but let’s try to be fair.
I get your point but the start of conference is still a big deal.
All is well, Fargo (Season 5 - Episode 3) is on tomorrow.
Scottie Ebube had half of the Salukis’ assists tonight. Probably not a recipe for success.

I understand the frustration and disappointment of the outcome of the game against ISU blue but to completely lose perspective is a little crazy what happened to trust the process, we understand this year will have some growing pains extcera now the first sign of adversity people ready to blow it up but if you look at college basketball scores at a nightly basis you will see results similar to this nightly. I understand the passion we all have for success but this is one game not a season of disappointment at this point so how about we show a little patience for the rest of the season after all it is only one game and I fully accept that my opinion is in the minority so bash me if you want
I do agree it's just one bad game so far and more time should be given but I keep asking myself how this place would react if Barry was still the coach. I remember the turning point here for Barry was the SIUe game in Year 5 and he never won SalukiNation (or whatever it was at the time) back.
If the rest of the season is more of the same, I don't think SIU can afford giving another coach 7 years total to try and figure it out. Next year is gonna go just as poorly and might damage the program further if they keep whiffing in the portal, because they don't have any HS commits as of now. And High School recruiting was one of Bryan's strengths until this year.
I keep saying, what Josh Schertz is doing at Indiana State should be eye-opening to everyone because that school hasn't been in on athletics as much as SIU is. Schertz is out-coaching, out-developing, and out-recruiting SIU.
The 23 wins last year should have a big selling point for the program (even if some people thought the win total was smoke and mirrors) and they had a really lousy portal class come in when they needed to replace two impact starters. Thank God X has been one of the best players in the Valley so far because if he gets hurt, this team will sink to Chris Lowery levels.
Split or even sweep the Saint Louis and Oklahoma State games and I'll feel much better.
if last night didn’t wake up the blind homers NOTHING will. watching a certain segment of this fanbase just accept this nonsense is infuriating.
Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.
They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

I have to totally disagree here, Mullins teams will never slip to CL levels. Lowery teams were getting bad JUCO players and played with no heart, don't think that'll ever be an issue with Mullins teams... That said, I do agree if this whole season were to go like this I am all for a change. We are not nearly there though, thus far I have been encouraged not discouraged and I am not going to let one really bad night change my entire mind... Really bad showing though, can't go like this all year or I agree change is needed, and I might be the biggest Mullins fan of them all.
If the salukis beat slu and ok st, this game will be forgotten and all the talk on here will be sweet 16
They need to get Ferguson back ASAP - hope it's nothing too serious there. Length/athleticism was supposed to be a calling card for this team, and that already took a hit with Hensley ineligible and Hornecker injured. You can't say you're a long and athletic team with Trent Brown playing the 2 for 30+ minutes a night. Stulic and D'Amico have decent size but are not athletic guys.
Unfortunately this team is going to be more 3-point reliant than you'd want to be, but if they can get Ferguson up and running and play him and Davis together on the wings a fair amount, that could be more along the lines of what was envisioned going into the year.
There are a handful of other personnel issues that need to be dealt with, too, but getting AJ back would be a helpful start.
@maroonloon For the fifth year in a row, Kenpom.com has the Salukis leading the country in teams that pass up an open look early in the shot clock, only to take a poor/contested/no shot as the clock expires.
Well it was team ball. Everyone on the team to blame for that loss. Coaches, players, they all collectively lost this one. Free throws are better this year though. As ugly and horrendous of a game as it was, SIU playing an F- game cost them at least 10 points on their end and Indiana State playing an A game gave them an extra 10 their way. The stars aligned for a blowout. That said, the dawgs do not looks very athletic at the moment, or against that team. Indiana State could just be better than we think too, who knows. Worst game I have seen in years, so bad it was not bad.

This has always been my biggest complaint of the Mullins era... You hear the talk of passing up good shots to get great shots but more often than not we pass up good shots to take much worse shots.
I am convinced they will never hire someone that can run an offense at this point.@maroonloon For the fifth year in a row, Kenpom.com has the Salukis leading the country in teams that pass up an open look early in the shot clock, only to take a poor/contested/no shot as the clock expires.
