KenPom has #102 Loyola-Chicago beating #194 SIU 64-55.  Vegas has Loyola favored by 10 points.

Loyola's 2019-20 results via KenPom:

The Ramblers are near the top of the nation in a few offensive categories.  They're 10th in the nation in effective FG% and they're 2nd in the nation in 2 point FG %.  The Ramblers are 22nd in the nation in points coming from 2 pointers and 332nd in the nation in points coming from 3 pointers.  On the defensive side, the Ramblers are 22nd in the nation in turnover %.  One negative thing stands out to me for Loyola, the Ramblers are 352nd out of 353 division 1 basketball teams in offensive rebound %.

The player to watch for the Ramblers is Cameron Krutwig who will probably be battling with Northern Iowa's A.J. Green all year for the Larry Bird Award.  The 6'9 Junior is one of the best all-around players in the country.  Krutwig is 58th in the country in defensive rebounding % and 50th in the country in assist rate.  Without Dembele and probably Jeremic, it's gonna be really important for Benson to stay out of foul trouble if the Salukis want any chance of winning this game.

Another Rambler to watch Lucas Williamson who plays tremendous defense and is 55th in the nation in 2 point FG % (29-44).  His teammate Aher Uguak is 32nd in the nation in that same stat (33-49).  Uguak is also 112nd in the country in effective FG% and 136th in the country in true shooting %.

They're not invincible at home with an early season home loss to Coppin State, but it won't be an easy game going against Krutwig with just Benson down low.

When you're winless on the road, there aren't many easy road games anywhere. As for Loyola, the Coppin State loss was godawful and shouldn't have happened, but they also were missing a couple guys early in the year. Clemons in particular has helped shore up their guardplay.

Should be a fun atmosphere with a lot of Chicago area ties for the Salukis these days and Mullins' return to Loyola, but yes, a tall order on the court. I'm guessing Williamson will be in Domask's grill much of the night.

I'll be in section 210, row B with other Chicago alum pals (couldn't get my usual seats a few rows behind our bench since they're all sold out to season ticket holders now) - see you there! 😀

If you're gonna reply to me in the forums, please quote what I wrote that you're replying to so I have a clue...thanks! 😀

I have been so impressed with both first half efforts on the road and Indiana State and Bradley... Need to put together 40 minutes.  Regardless of if this team is making shots, or willing tonight or all those things it is nice to know that they are going to play their heart out.  When the championships start rolling in we should all remember this group as the one that changed the culture.

That said, I have us losing tonight probably by double digits.  Without AC, and you have to think hes done for the year, we struggle to get into the paint and make the correct plays.  Getting better every time I watch though.  I know there is a difference of opinion but I would love to have him back next year.

I think I’m more fine with Cook coming back than I was a few weeks ago and I think it’s headed in that direction based on what I’ve heard from Mullins’ interviews with Reis.  I think Lance Jones has a ton of potential but it’s clear he’s going to take some time to develop and having a guy like Cook to worry about next year only helps guys like Domask and Harvey and could make SIU a dark horse as soon as next year.  Also, pending a transfer coming in, you’re really going to lack veteran leadership next year which Cook can bring.

Line is currently SIU + 10.  I honestly don't see how they cover that, even with Mullins wanting to have a good showing against Moser.  If  Krutwig gets in serious foul trouble, SIU can keep this close throughout the entire game.  More importantly, as I have said all season, is looking for continued improvement from the players that are going to be here next year and down the road from that.

GO DAWGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See y'all at Pub 626 and the game.  Hopefully the Dawgs aren't down 15 in the first 5 minutes like last year.

Okay, let's hypothetically say AC does get a medredshirt, then does it make sense to redshirt Brown? Or an incoming frosh guard or two?

Not trying to get too far ahead, just curious.

March on triumphantly!

Welp, I'm on a Metra train just pulling out of Tinley Park headed to the game...

I have a bad feeling about this... the last SIU game I went to was the 2007 (I think) Butler debacle.

Don't come to this game with any expectations other then enjoying watching SIU play a game of basketball. Chances of us winning this one is slim...
