Gooch really shouldn't be taking more shots than Domask

Is it just me or is Porter Moser a dick?

Just finished watching the game...we really have struggled to score the last few games (48, 48, and 50 isn’t going to cut it). I don’t think it’s because we are taking bad shots either. Missed a bunch of bunnies at the rim and a ton of wide open 3’s. Not sure if this group has lost confidence or what but they have to start picking it up on the offensive end or we might not win another game the rest of the year. Starting to look more and more like a Thursday team unfortunately.

Got back home a bit ago.  Agreed, we missed a LOT of open shots.  I had to question why tf Benson is taking so many 3s (he was 0/4 tonight).  On the plus side he stayed out of foul trouble, but he still wasn't a consistent presence inside. We played pretty solid D most of the game, held Krutwig to 8 & 8, but he also had 5 assists.  We were crushed on the boards once again (-11?  yikes!) as well as points-in-the-paint.  Looking at the stats, I'm surprised we shot 35%, we were missing so many open shots.

On an odd note, pregame at a bar/restaurant across the street I met MD's parents!  Apparently they've been attending a lot of his games, esp. on the road.  (they're from north of Milwaukee).  Told them I've been loving watching their son play and I'm glad he's a Saluki.

I wasn't expecting a win, but I was hoping to keep it more respectable.  In 5 Valley games, we're the only team with all 5 decisions to be by double-digits.

If you're gonna reply to me in the forums, please quote what I wrote that you're replying to so I have a clue...thanks! 😀

Not much new tonight. This team is really offensively deficient, especially on the road.
I’m not sure why Brown is on the floor as much as he is ... just overmatched much of the time. Davis is scuffling, too.

Couple thoughts about tonight’s game:

1) It looks like Mullins has made the decision to develop his players over trying to win every game. That’s the only take-back I can get from having Brown play that much. This team is so thin; they need Domask to be on the floor for 40. Obviously, that’s not feasible. It’s just that we’re so thin.

I really thought that we’d get something more from Gooch this year. I don’t see it.

Plus, Karrington Davis just doesn’t look confident on the floor. Neither does Brown. I just hope these guys are D-I players. It’s tough to throw so much on younger kids (and Davis post-injury), and I just hope they can grow into next year.

We played a very solid first half like Bradley...and then poof.

calling this: we’re beating them in Carbondale.

One thing I’ve noticed with Davis: he has a hard time keeping his balance on drives to the basket. Not sure what the deal is, but it seems like he’s always wiping out or on the verge of doing so.

We played decent in the first half, and also had only 7 turnovers the whole game.

Suggs should not be allowed to shoot outside the FT line. If he's going to shoot, drive it - decent FT shooter.  I'd much rather see Davis get a lot more minutes, although he looks like he's winded after being in there just a few minutes.  Still think he's a better scorer than Suggs - needs minutes.

Domask needs to be more aggressive about taking a shot. He won't shoot outside unless he's wide open, and I'd way rather see him, McGill,  or Francois throw up a quick three rather than Suggs, Brown, or Jones. Domask told Reis he doesn't like to take a bad shot. Unfortunately a lot of so-so shooters on our team end up doing that a lot because the clock is expiring.

Benson had 0 rebounds!! Not good. He also only had a single foul, which tells me he was way too wimpy against Krutwig, especially in the 2nd half.   A few hard fouls is what the big Krut needs - he's a lousy FT shooter. Benson also needs to take that inside shot, get some fouls on Krut. He took only three shots that weren't threes - crazy when you're 6'11". Two points and 0 rebounds - total non-factor!

Lance got ripped off when the Loyola player knocked him on the floor on a layup - unbelievable no-call. Ref right there, evidently dreaming about the new discount deck Moser Lumber is going to build for him!

Very disappointing 2nd half.

And yes, Moser's a hoser! Puts Krut back in with a huge lead and 1:16 to go??

I've noticed that we get to a certain point in a game (17-15 minutes left) that's the end of things. With the exception of our home games. The four times Ive seen them play road games, they just fall apart at that point. Youth, talent level - whatever. Its kinda disheartening when I know they're trying. But, that is the encouraging part; they are putting in the effort.

Oh- And that was a dick move by Moser putting Sauerkraut back in the game. I don't care if the kid campaigned for it or not. Moser should have told him to sit his (insert politically incorrect adjective here) ass back down.
