Don't get me wrong, I was not a fan of the hiring nor was I fan of this tenure. I especially was NOT a fan the last few years. Just saying I don't blame BBQ for everything that has happened. I believe the ROOT of the issue was when C-LO was hired...…….and that was before hindsight. But I'm taking 69's advice and will not mention either of the previous 2 coaches names going forward.
People,
Relax, please. If you had any expectations for success this year you were setting yourself up to be disappointed. Bryan got the kids he could get at such a late date, simple as that. Now, they certainly need size and Im hopeful that will be addressed soon. You cannot win on any regular basis with four 6'3'' guards and a big guy. That said, it will be his 3rd or 4th year before we start to see the fruits of his labor. Got to be patient boys....Simple as that.
Some things never change. They have a good game and they're potential all americans and ncaa bound, a bad game and the season is over. I trust bm to get this program going but not overnight.
I'm surprised people on here are losing their shit after losing to a Power 5 program that honestly most of already had penciled in as an expected blowout loss... This team isn't built to win now. It's built to set a foundation for the coming years, so to complain about one bad performance is not fair to this staff.
Also, this team is clearly missing Aaron Cook. I love what Lance Jones has to offer, but he's still adjusting and it might take another half season to develop into the player we're hoping he turns into.

I haven't really seen too many people overreacting, so I'm not sure what the hubbub is over here. Just about everyone knows what the deal is this year and that there wasn't much for Mullins to work with in Year 1.
That said, a game like Sunday's and, moreso, SIU's rather sad ranking in the NET through 11 games (#274, lowest in the MVC by quite a bit) does underscore how much work there is to be done on the recruiting trail and in player development with the young pups. Certainly, more patience will be needed. I say more because it's been a decade-plus of disappointing results for Saluki basketball ... while that's in no way Mullins' fault, there is no doubt a degree of pent-up frustration in what remains of the Saluki fan base.
the only good thing is that there were only about 683 people at this game to witness.
I thought there were 12..... 🤨
I'm guessing MR already knows the depressing answer to that question and so didn't bother asking it.
These guys can't get playing time on a team getting regularly outrebounded 37-21 (today's tally). I think the answer is right there if you apply Occam's razor. 😉
- Also, Dembele's stat line today: 7 minutes, 3 fouls. The last time he played significant minutes, I think it was 4 fouls in 9 minutes.
When Jermaine Dearman arrived he could barely dribble and chew gum concurrently. Let’s be patient kids.
Both Dearman and Falker were projects. Skilled post players are hard to come by out of high school unless your duke or unc. Dembele needs some serious work, but if he's willing to put in the time and effort, I'm hopeful that by his junior year he's a contributor.
Not overly harsh. I haven't lost any patience or faith that Mullins will get this train properly on track, but facts are this team will not win anything significant without a substantial infusion of size and athleticism.
I completely agree with this! I'm not a fan of playing with one low post player that can score and grab rebounds. If you're going with 4 guards and a center, then you have to have at least one of your guards that has some size and can box out and board.
I guess you didn't see my follow-up post.
The point is Dembele is not ready to play, and that is why he is not getting playing time. That is all; it is that simple.
My post was in response to those who don't get why he is not playing when we are so outmatched underneath. The answer is bleedingly simple: at this point, he would not help; the guys playing now, unfathomable as it might seem, are better.

I don't disagree that he's not ready to contribute.......but in a lost season that's all about development.....get the kid some minutes, especially if you expect him to contribute at some point. Development doesn't occur until some of these guys get practical experience. Now, if the coaching staff is expecting to move on from Dembele, that's a different story.
I'm just not ready to say that BM doesn't know what he's doing, that's all.
I'll trust that BM knows whether he's ready to play, and I'll trust that BM knows how best to bring him along. And if it comes down to it, I'll trust BM on whether the kid fits in or should be let go, "big body" or not.

I do believe you requested people don't mention BBQ and yet are continuing to discuss"he who shall not be named". It's addictive!
P.S. I'll mention BBQ if I want, and you can complain about if you want. You also mentioned The Christopher Lowery! And I recently mentioned Joe Gottfried (although to my credit, I haven't mentioned Allen Van Winkle - oops!)
I’ve moved on from BBQ but have no problem if people want to bring him up because he’s mostly the reason why SIU is in the spot they’re in right now. Hinson cared more about the short-term than the long-term.
That being said, as rough as this year is gonna be for Mullins, having nearly a brand new roster is gonna give him an opportunity to build his program right out of the gate which could be beneficial in the long run.
Whatever the case, I’m still enjoying this season more than any season since the Lowery thing was done. It’s gonna be fun to see guys like Domask, Jones, Brown, and Harvey grow over the next few years.

You can absolutely do anything you want. I was more asking the adults in this forum for a favor.
