is Mosley an NBA player ? Could this be his last year at Mo State ??
Speaking of which, been too damn long since the Salukis churned out an NBA player …
I think you’re gonna be waiting a good long while for another NBA talent at SIU.
They won’t even bother to recruit kids with that type of talent. Doesn’t fit the narrative for rural southern ill.

I could see that if he tightens a few things up and keeps scoring like he has been lately. When he’s locked in, he can be elite.

First guy I've seen in the MVC in a while that is NBA talent.
Last was Alize Johnson and "Cam Krutwig + 3 inches".

Completely disagree - Mullins will not be limited by some "rural southern illinois" stereotype and will go after really good players. If he doesn't, he shouldn't be our coach. (Mark Few built Gonzaga by going after guys who would never play for some little Catholic school no one ever heard of.) Fact is, Rivals and other scouting services are full of kaka half the time. Players develop on different schedules. You can absolutely not always tell by looking at a high school senior whether he's NBA material, and often the NBA guys don't draft the guys they should. (Darren Brooks, Jamaal Tatum)
Ja Morant is The most exciting player in the NBA and the big guys completely whiffed on him. Lots of mid-major guys in the NBA.

I don’t want to become a hated rival of yours like Bleacher Bum, but this is ridiculous.
Darren Brooks was nowhere close to an NBA player. Tatum is a bit closer due to his athleticism but still leagues away.
Ja Morant was a true stud with unreal talent the first time I ever saw him play. That was in Carbondale.
C-Lo had the right idea to become a true mid major powerhouse. That particular class just didn’t work out.
let’s be real here. Black kids, for the most part, would prefer to play for a black head coach.
That being said, I think Bryan Mullins is much closer than many others who look like him to landing top talent.
And considering how this season is obviously going, I’d be willing to bet Mullins is gonna take some chances and bring some freshman studs, maybe high major transfers and JUCOs.
let’s face it, the Mullins Salukis have to be really good next year, his Fourth.
Unless these two redshirts turn out to be great right out of the box, that’s not happening.
Still have a lot of faith. But we need to see something and soon.

I came out of this game pretty happy with the performance but this team is still kind of stuck in average overall, same place they were under H****n. They have the Colorado win this year but after that their 2nd and 3rd best wins by KenPom are Valpo and Evansville. And then it's Alcorn State. Right now a Bradley team that saw major turnover from last year is ahead of SIU in KenPom and that's kind of discouraging.
I don't think any of us expect SIU to compete for a Valley championship this year but it would be nice to continue to compete against the top tier teams and steal a few games against them, especially at home.
Even with Loyola and the older players leaving the conference next year, things won't get any easier when Belmont and Murray join.

Darren Brooks, two-time MVC Player of the Year, two-time MVC Defensive Player of the Year, Honorable Mention All-American wasn't close to being an NBA player? Wrong with a cherry on top!
Tatum leagues away? Most analysts had him going in the 2nd round.
Michigan sucks btw!
Our head coach is a former Chicago Bulls Summer League player

And I loved DB. Very solid mid major player who needed a while to get there.
He’s the type of player current SIU wants to develop.
And you don’t have to say Michigan sucks.
They will forever be better than the Illini in both football and basketball. That’s just a fact.
However, if backwoods Champaign and surrounding area could recruit Chicago in basketball they could be a national power quite often.
not happening. 😉
U of I is about equidistant to Chicago and St. Louis. Is in Champaign-Urbana. Is close to Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Springfield, the Quad Cities. Is just a few hours from Indianapolis and Evansville and Milwaukee.
They by all accounts should be a national powerhouse annually and shouldn't ever have to leave their immediate surroundings.
Very winnable game last night, but it's time to start winning those. I do love the fight in this team though; they never give up.
The truth is we need a player like Ben Coupet but we need him for 4/5 years.
I have to be honest and say I thought we would be farther along with Mullins by this time, especially after his first season when it seemed like the spark was back in team enthusiasm and hustle. That being said, injuries and Covid have set us back. Last year there was a lot of talk about how much we missed J.D. Muilla, but we can see from last night that he is not the answer at the 5 spot that we thought he would be. I like Mullins as a coach, I think he brings a lot to the table, but until SIU is the hunted and not the hunter, patience will grow thin. It's a tough business, but the bottom line is that wins fill the seats and keeps the monster fed. Right now our dragon just doesn't have enough fire. We are middle of the pack in the MVC. Until we have a Gage Primm type of player and develop some sort of consistent inside game, we are going to see more of what we saw tonight, a team that battle hards but is fighting uphill against the better teams in our league.

The problem with COVID is that is has tainted the view of this season. We should not be playing against Lucas Williamson and Gage Prim. It kind of delays where we should be in the valley for an extra year. It's hard to pass teams that retained guys that should have moved on. Thats why having a young roster in a rebuild is good. You know other teams best players move on and yours are growing and coming back. That did not happen this year. If Domask and Jones use their COVID year they should the class of the valley when they are super seniors. If Banks and Verplanken use theirs they are going to be tough to deal with too. COVID hit at a really bad time for having a young roster. We need these 22 year olds to move on in order to really see the progress of our team.
I think we are going to win the valley in 3 years if Mullins can find a couple high level athletes to put with the foundation in place.
Regarding the "lack of athleticism", pleased be advised that there will be a player on the floor next year who is 6-10/265 who has been described to me, from a very trustworthy source, as being "freakishly athletic".
Fire away.
