I don't get it either. Hornecker and Wonders need to be playing. Period. Especially Hornecker: I don't want to lose him.
His redshirt is burned so get him experience I say. He is certainly not an offensive liability like one of our big men, and just his size in the middle is going to change the opponent's ability to score in the paint.
How do you know someone is going to leave I understand why you could believe it but maybe the coaching staff has a better feel for the kids and what they want to achieve and while everyone wants to play maybe they are on board with the plan the staff has for their future
Think it has to do with ESPN production being outsourced to Oklahoma City post-pandemic to save money
@salukiworld I thought that might be the case but I have not noticed it on other Valley schools. I know we aren't the only school to outsource. If we are paying someone to produce it then we should insist on it being done right.
As much as I like Lance Jones, where the heck is his 3 point shot gone? He was lights out his Soph year, hitting about 42% for the season. Maybe that was a fluke, but he is hitting a little over 30% this year.
Yeah, if the stats at https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/stat/effective-field-goal-pct which say that we have the 58th highest effective field goal percentage in the country are correct, then we're not a poor shooting team.
The last time we were 58th or better in effective field goal percentage in a season was 2009-2010 when we were 54th

SIU is 8th in the country in 2 point % (59.0%) but 233rd in the country in 3 point % (32.1%). Despite this, they’re 4th in the country in 3 point attempts per field goal attempts (50.8%).
Muila had a key defensive rebound, followed by an offensive rebound that led to Banks hitting a three at a critical juncture in the game. He is becoming more of a force around the basket.I'm getting excited again. Murray isn't an easy place to win in any circumstance, yet we won anyway, even with Perry absolutely lighting us up (not because he was poorly defended either). Lance played with more confidence, Marcus played like a senior that refused to let SIU lose, and Ebube is near being ready to return.
I think Bryan still has some rotational things to figure out; his anti-offense lineup he used a couple different times after we stretched the lead might need scrapping. Thinking this was Banks, Johnson, Newton, D'Amico and Muila ... Someone can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but I remember asking myself aloud; who's going to score with these 5 on the floor together?
Also, it won't always show up in the numbers, but Muila's extremely physical presence has been a helpful addition. He was good defensively again last night. The only time he got beat was by a guard on a bad switch with no help.
The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.
James Madison
@salukiworld So, a TL;DR would be we probably should shoot less 3s?
Another way to look at it, if my math is correct, we score about a tenth of a point more per 2 point attempt (59% of 2, or 1.18 points) vs per 3 point attempt (32.1% of 3, or .963 points)...
If your last name isn’t Wonders or Brown, take it to the hoop.
Edit (fact check): Johnson, Wonders, Ferguson are the Saluki players above 40%.
@class-of-69 It has gotten to a point where if I don't see him shooting from the logo, I don't think it's going in. It seems he only makes it from deep deep.

Anything over 33 or 35 is pretty damn good as far as 3pt shooting goes. So i wouldn't say just the guys over 40.
@saluki-69 The home telecasts work like this: The announcers are in Carbondale with the camera operators, etc. Their work is fed to Kansas City along with a feed of the game and shot clocks. What you see is put together in KC, sent back to the production truck in Carbondale and then sent to ESPN. It is a growing trend in telecasts because it is cheaper. It's called a REMI telecast. I'm told the extra hop to Kansas City IS the reason for the delay, as someone speculated here. Perhaps in time technology fixes that.
