Our shooting - 38% and 24% from 3 - not good enough but UNI has played very tough D and suppressed XJ
Also thought Tytan Anderson got away with a couple of charges.
Also thought Bobber had no business playing the 5 - really sucked
Turned it off to watch a good NFL game.
Second straight game where Ferguson had a great first half and a very quiet second half.
XJ still ended up with 17, but he should have been to the FT line a bunch more times - no calls by the refs

No. He was off-kilter and hunting foul calls. Not a good night for him.

Not his best game, but they keyed on him - good game plan by Jacobsen - and he absolutely got fouled on some of those drives.
Officiating was terrible both ways; I can’t really use that as an excuse. However, the repeated decision to play Trent and Troy the minutes they are getting is mind-boggling.
Troy hasn’t put together a single game where I thought he was aiding in the success of the team. Offensive and defensive liability.
Everyone outside of X went quiet in the second half. He had 17 of the 27 in the second half…he also had to shoot 18 shots to get those points. Just not good enough on offense, looked a lot like last year’s offense if I’m honest. Lots of people standing around hoping for X or Rupert to make something happen and then supporting cast just missed a bunch of outside shots. Brown 2-7, D’Amico 1-6, Johnson 2-9, Ferguson 0-2.
Defense and rebounding was good and I thought the refs fucking sucked for both sides.
Things that are annoying:
1. Never being able to score 60 points in Frostbite, decade after decade
2. Regressing to grind it out, clunky offense yet again after the early-season signs of improvement
3. Trent playing full games and not impacting winning late with tired legs (and three straight poor shooting games overall)
4. Coaches not figuring out a way to keep Kennard Davis on track once Ferguson came back
5. Hensley being asked to defend true 5s. It doesn’t end well.

I’m not as down on Troy as some are but he and Trent BOTH playing so many minutes when they are pretty similar (gritty, intangibles guys who aren’t big threats offensively and are limited athletically) is revealing about the state of the roster.
You could see that result coming a mile away.
Mullins outcoached (again).
D'Amico absolutely brutal (again).
Trent Brown getting beat on defense, chucking up bricks, and playing 40 minutes (again).
Hensley stuck trying to guard 5s (again).
Ebube not playing enough (again).
XJ driving into traffic and throwing up prayers attempting to draw fouls (again & again & again & again). Seems to be the only play we know.
As I said pregame, I knew this team would go out there and put out a good effort. Doesn't mean I'm not sick of going into these games expecting to lose. I want SIU to be the hunted again and they just aren't good enough to beat the good teams consistently. And honestly I don't see enough on the current roster that gives me any faith that next year is gonna be much better.

And some will genuinely wonder why we think Bryan Mullins is so stubborn (again).
His unwillingness to change some of his philosophies and personnel decisions will continue yielding subpar results. Frustrating..

Open shots didn't go in if we shoot up to average we win on on to the next one this team is still better than pre season predictions
