This may not be a popular opinion but before the season started most would agree this what the record would be you one you shouldn't have lost one you shouldn't but mostly competed and showed toughness especially with most games on the road I believe the valley is winnable regular season and tournament I see this team getting better since game one til now and will continue to improve
Watson to Mullins: you've got to be getting some confidence in Hornecker - he came in and really slowed the game down!!!!!
Mullins - next few weeks of practice should be good for him
Obviously RW is thinking the same thing I'm thinking!
Some have whispered that we might’ve missed out on Avila (Indiana St), but rest assured that if he had chosen SIU, he’d be playing 2 minutes a game. He’s handicapped in Mullins’ personnel schemes by being over 6’8”!!

Same thing a lot of us are thinking.. 🙄

I’ve just come to accept that we’re a middle of the pack MVC talent team year in and year out from a failing university in a declining town. We’re never going to be what we were in the 2000s again and that’s ok.
Let’s get better and win the Valley tourney.
Rupert not having his best game today.
Finally, its not just me. He has not been great. Not sure why some want to bench D'Amico and play him all the time. Team is better when D'Amico is in there right now.
No F'ing way!
TD 16 mins 2 rbs 0 pts 1 ast
CR 17 mins 3 rbs 6 pts 1 ast 1 blk
its not all about those stats. Making teammates better and playing good defense are also important. That is what +/- shows you. It shows you those intangible things that normal stats don't show. Game after game, not just this one, but game after game all season long, +/- has shown we are better with D'Amico on the floor than the other guys.
It's not all about the stats? But you're pointing to a bullshit stat to say we're better with a very small center? You been smoking weed? Points, rebounds, blocks are NOT stats per se - they're facts.
+/- is a questionable stat somebody made up - unless you are playing against exactly the same team at exactly the same point in the game, it's meaningless.
We're far worse with D'Amico playing very small center.
They killed us in the paint - you seriously think little TD playing the lane makes us better against a team like SLU?
His D and rebounding against their bigger guys was worthless - and he can't score and he didn't score and he didn't rebound and he didn't block a shot. He's a decent player but he should be getting some limited minutes at forward.
Mullins' insistence on being a guard only team when he actually has some talent inside is just not smart. And starting D'Amico at center - laughable - especially when we burned the redshirt of a 7 fter who has some nice offensive skills and barely gets a sniff of real game experience. Did I mention he's 7 ft tall.
Reading comprehension is your friend.
I said "those" stats.
I didn't say stats.
I also didn't say those stats didn't matter. I said it isn't all about those stats.
Thank you for participating.
I know weed is legal now but everything in moderation! LOL
"we're a better team with D'Amico at the 5"
"Maryland might be the best team in the country"
"SLU is a top 15 team"

He's saying we won one we shouldn't have and lost one we shouldn't have. So people should be cool with just beating bad teams all year and losing to the good teams.
But we were told last year that SIU was only losing games because teams were older than them. Now SIU is older than pretty much everyone so they should have that advantage, right?
The problem with hiring someone like Mullins is, if things aren't going well; people aren't going to fairly criticize things. And that's what we're seeing now. I don't need to see the 2000's Salukis again (that's not gonna happen) but I just want to see one good Salukis team again.

And i agree. I think Hornecker should be playing as much as his ability to not foul allow him to play. But I also think D'Amico should be playing the 4, and Domask should be at the 3 with Jones at the 2 and Johnson at the 1. I don't think it would hurt to have a little length and height on the court together.

a fine citizen like you should do wonders for C'dale and SIU - thanks for your support

I never said we were better with D'amico at the 5. I said we were better with him on the floor. I'd prefer to see him at the 4 personally, or the 3, Him and Domask at the 3 and 4.
I also never said SLU was top 15, i said they were a top 25, maybe top 15.
And Maryland is damned good. They may win the big 10 this year. That would make them one of the best, if not the best, teams in the country. I stand by that assessment.
Now the case is closed. You can't read.

@mr_woogers I didn’t go to SIU and I’m not from Carbondale.
I just don’t live in fantasy land like some of you do with this program.
the program doesn’t have the patience for 4 year players.
4 year players aren't a thing in college basketball anymore anyways. SIU has done an amazing job with retention and have more 4 year players than anyone in the Valley except maybe Drake. That's not the problem here. The problem to me is either talent or coaching...or both.

Not me. I’ve been angry after every loss since childhood and I’ll continue to be angry at every loss until I’m no longer breathing. No difference if we’re playing Chicago St or the Lakers. I expect excellence no matter how realistic. The day I settle for less is the day I stop watching/caring.
