“It was just one of those games offensively “ - Mullins to Reis just now.
I have no words. That was the final comment. Lordy.
better than "thanks to our fans, thanks to our listeners" after you get drubbed.
I think Bryan should lap the floor and clap at each fan section, even at away games!
And buy pizzas for the student section.
At least there is no way in hell Jones will play against our next d-2 opponent.
He is not right. If he can’t take it to the hole, he’s just another guy. That made him special.
Muila was 2nd on the team with +1 behind Coupet +2. Filewich with -10, Banks with -11, Domask with -12. SIU has been constantly better with Muila over Filewich outside of the SEMO and Maryville games.
One’s a D2 school and the other is one of the shortest teams in the nation.
I wouldn’t call our bigs serviceable. It’s a major weakness. Muila is the only one that can hold his own against a decent front court and he’s a role player at best on a good team.
There are some good pieces here, but in my opinion, the best additions for next season may very well be by subtraction. SIU is two or three of the right players away from being good like we’d hope. There are some kids getting minutes right now that shouldn’t.
Its funny … the previous coach recruited a bunch of athletes, but skill and especially team chemistry were severely lacking. Bryan has recruited quite the fair amount of skill, and team chemistry seems very solid, but for the last 3 years, SIU has felt like one of the most un-athletic teams in all of D1. A stark contrast to being the kind of physical, defensive-minded team he’s hoping for.
--Insert something witty here--
I have to agree. We need to recruit some bigger, better athletes. No offense to any players currently on our roster. 😉

His 3 point shooting took a huge step back. He was the opposite last year. Couldn't miss from 3 but struggled driving to the rim. Really need for him to put it all together next year.
It is just sad when you watch a game where YOUR team gets exposed.
We have no serviceable "five" man. Whenever we play a team that has one, it really shows up.
Our "fours" are not very physical at all, and can't really jump, except for one who makes Wilt the Stilt (Shack for you younger guys) look like a good free throw shooter.
Not sure how good a team can possibly be that is so short, weak and slow at positions that require size. I know it can be done, as it was done here in 1967 with a 6 foot 5 center, but I don't see any Frazier's or Garret's on this team.
Just cancel our D2 game next week. There is no point in playing.
then we got Loyola and Drake as our first two MVC games in January. Damn.
Both at home too.
WOW!! Looks like the Saluki Insider Whine & Cheese Club is fully engaged tonight!!

I wish I felt like we were ready to play Loyola and Drake but I must vote no confidence.
It seems like it will take a near miracle...like a pair of 20 point games from a returning Trent Brown.
Hey, if you can find any Pickled Herring in this mess I'll take a bite.

SIU is catching a huge break with Loyola on a 3 week pause before playing them. They'll have gone from December 10th to January 2nd without playing a game.
Good point! We might have a chance to steal one, especially if we can get Brown back and he makes a difference.
Thanks for finding some light through the dark clouds.

😂😂😂
But but but we are soooo good defensively.
You are hilarious.
and I assume you have seen most of the games, too.

People aren't satisfied with mediocrity. SIU hasn't been good going on 14 years now. I expected this loss because San Francisco is good so I'm not that down on it but 8-5 is a disappointing non-conference schedule given the competition they played (6-5 against non D-1 teams and losing to a Little Rock team that might lose 20 this year). This should be Mullins' best team so far and I still long for the team we had in his first year.
